If you think Honors College is right for you, we’d welcome your

application. Our admissions committee reviews each applicant

individually, considering your standardized test scores, unweighted

GPA, writing skill as demonstrated in a required application essay,

participation in extracurricular activities, and letters of reference.

Apply online at unlv.edu/honors

There is no college admissions deadline, but students applying

before February 1 will have priority consideration for scholarships

and course selection. The Honors College admission application

also constitutes the application for Honors College scholarships

for first-year students. National Merit Scholars and high school

You love a challenge, and we deliver.

In our advanced set of Honors core

courses and seminars, you’ll feed off

the energy of passionate professors

and likeminded students as you get

pushed to your intellectual limits.

You are definitely not in this alone.

Our private Honors Suite, located at

the center of UNLV, is your home base

where you can study, meet friends, and

have direct access to our first-class

academic advisors and faculty. We’ll keep you grounded, and on track.

There may not be a red carpet (yet...), but

we have a knack for making our students

feel like somebody. You’ll get priority registration, special access to faculty, and eligibility to select scholarship funding. Oh yeah, did we mention pizza and bagels

during midterms and finals?

MATTHEW BUYACHECKFuture Professor of Literature

Honors courses have been such an integral place of learning for me. As a local student, I looked elsewhere to find a small liberal arts college where faculty and students blend together in the passionate pursuit of knowledge. I realized that what I sought in the ‘U.S. News’ Top 10 Universities’ was right in front of me at the Honors College, and without the $50,000/year tuition bill.

You are full of creative ideas and big dreams. As an Honors

student, you can make the most of every one. Conduct and publish original research, study abroad, land competitive internships and summer assistantships, and do meaningful community service. And if you’re up for a physical

challenge, you can join an Honors intramural team.

Tough Mudder, anyone?

By the time you graduate, you’ll be replacing

résumé lines like bake-sale coordinator with summa cum laude. Our students are among

the most accomplished undergraduates in the

country—they are published, award-winning, and uniquely experienced. Some have gone on

to earn prestigious nationally competitive awards.

If it weren’t for the Honors College, I wouldn’t be working in an Alzheimer’s research lab on campus, I wouldn’t be mentoring first-year students, and I definitely wouldn’t have been accepted to a nationally competitive summer research fellowship at Mayo Clinic. I cannot wait to flaunt my UNLV gear while working alongside world-renown researchers and students from Harvard, Stanford, and other prestigious universities!

JEREMY KLEWICKIFuture Grammy Award-Winning Artist

I could have gone to a private music conservatory like Julliard, but I’m not going to school just to be another technical musician. I want to become an artist—someone who is creatively fueled by deep thinking. At UNLV’s Honors College, I’m getting the opportunity to read Brazilian literature, to study philosophy, to hear special lectures on everything from dance to geology. I’m given new cultural perspectives, new ways of thinking, new ideas, new things to say. The kids at all of those New York conservatories aren’t getting that.
