Sinai Temple Annual Gala
Joel grew up in Akron, Ohio, where he wasactive at Beth El Congregation and served aspresident of its USY chapter. After graduatingfrom the University of Akron, he attended CornellLaw School where he met his wife, Deborah.
In 1985, after practicing corporate law andserving as a City Councilman in a suburb ofAkron, Joel moved to Los Angeles, whereDeborah was practicing business bankruptcylaw and litigation. That same year, they marriedand joined Sinai Temple. Their sons, Perryand Adam, graduates of Sinai Akiba Academy, celebrated their B’nai Mitzvahwith the Family Minyan, and are now juniors in college.
Joel has practiced corporate and securities law for more than 30 years and is a partnerat Greenberg Glusker Fields Claman & Machtinger. He has been recognized asa Southern California “Super Lawyer” in mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to becoming President of Sinai Temple, Joel served as an Officer and a Directorof the Temple, and chaired several committees.
