Today, and in the week ahead, may we all be filled with the love that was seen in Christ our Lord.

New Adult Sunday School Class is Underway!

During the 9:30 a.m. Sunday School hour, a new class for 30-40 year olds has begun meeting in the church Library. As believers in Christ as Lord, all of us would acclaim that Jesus offers us the supreme example to follow. Even as Jesus said to Matthew the Tax Collector, “Follow me” (Matthew 9:9), we recognize that Jesus was asking Matthew to make dramatic changes so his life would be aligned with new Christian values. Also recognizing the responsibility we have to inspire the young people in our lives to also uphold Christ-like principles, we acknowledge that we need inspiration and practical guidance to help us uphold the best Christ-like example. With all of this in mind, the first book that our new Sunday School Class will explore is simply titled: Lead Your Family Like Jesus. The book emphasizes the text of Philippians 2:5,7 that reminds us that our “attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.. . .taking on the very nature of a servant.” And as servants, we can adjust our family values, our time and our resources to inspire the children and youth in our lives to also experience and live out Christ-like ways. We welcome others in the 30-40 age group to join us on Sunday mornings as we hope to create a new core of support in the fellowship of Barry Christian Church. Please feel free to give me a call if you have any questions or comments about this new Sunday School class. Pastor Dennis

Thank you all, and there were a lot of you, for the prayers, cards, visits, and especially encouraging words during my recent surgery and lengthy recovery. While I'm recovering slowly, I AM recovering. Test results last week indicate the cancer was ALL removed. Earlier indications were that some may have remained. Fortunately, God's work trumps medical test results!

Memorial Garden Renewal

The next time you are at the church, please step outside the north side of the building just beyond the church offices, and check out the progress being made to renew the Memorial Garden.

Through the generosity of Doris O’Neal and the services of her gardener, Mike and his helper, Rob; as well as with the assistance of Carrie Patience, the pathway is being refurbished, plants are being relocated, new mulch is being put down and a much-needed drainage system from the upper corner of the garden down to the parking lot is being installed.

More will be shared as progress continues!

The church also has a website: BarryChristianChurch.com

Did you know the church has a NEW face book page? If you are a Face book member,

please go to this Face book page and “Like” it.

We will be phasing out the old Face book page.

The Quiet Hour Speak, Lord, in the stillness, while I wait on Thee; hush my heart to listen, in expectancy. Speak, O blessed Master, in this quiet hour, let me see Thy face, Lord, feel Thy touch of power. For the words Thou speakest, “They are life” indeed; living Bread from heaven, Now my spirit feed! All to Thee is yielded, I am not my own; blissful, glad surrender, I am Thine alone. Fill me with the knowledge, of Thy glorious will; all Thine own good pleasure, in my life fulfill. Like a watered garden, full of fragrance rare, ling’ring in Thy presence, let my life appear. —Emily M. Crawford

'Twas the day after Vacation Bible school ’Twas the day after Bible school and all over town,

With a sigh of relief, we all settled down.

Out to the golf course goes Dad in his cap,

And home in the bedroom Mom’s taking a nap.

Gone Linda, gone Brenda, gone David and Johnny,

Gone Margie, and Mary, and Ronnie and Donnie.

Gone stories, and puppets, and songs in the air,

Gone paint under fingernails and paste in the hair.

Rest sweetly, dear workers, and wake with good cheer,

For Bible school won’t come again for a year.

As they drifted off, I heard them exclaim:

“It was worth all the hard work and we’d do it again!”

We appreciate your prayers for Camp

Discovery, our Vacation Bible School

being held July 13-17.

Ask God to bring children to

our program so they can know and

grow in Jesus! Ask God to

provide leaders and helpers for this

important mission.
