MollyMy wonderful Black Lab Mollie was in my life for 14 years. Forever sociable and upbeat, she was always there for me in good times and bad. She was there when my mother struggled with Alzheimer’s. She was there when I went through a divorce. And, near the end of Mollie’s life, she was there when I met a very special friend who later became my wife.

Mollie was always a source of comfort, affection, and love. She passed away in 2006. I still cherish to this day the time I had with her.

Oscar In Honor of OscarWe adopted Oscar in June 11, 2015 from Cedar Bend Humane Society. He is an amazing dog for his age, 9 years old, still has a lot of energy like a two year old puppy. He thinks he is one of the warriors that loves to scare everyone coming to his territory. For me, he’s so sweet, too. Love, Vince & Nena

LeviWe rescued Levi on May 4, 2015. He is so sweet, energetic and playful. He loves to play most of the time. His favorite game is playing hockey. He likes to play “rolling rock” around in our yard. He received an award for performing that game during the Dunkerton Day Pet Show. He is fun and gives us joy every day.

Wow, buddy, I can’t believe you have been gone three years. You were an amazing dog and you loved playing with your toys and going on walks. My favorite memory is one night it was storming and we had a 50 pound bag of dog food. You ripped the dog food bag open and there was dog food all over the floor.

My other favorite memory was when you used to bury your food outside in the dirt and use plastic bags or rocks to hide your dog food. So glad you had a happy and healthy life and made it to 17 years old.

TeddyTeddy - Wow, gone too soon but never forgotten. We miss you everyday. You were the best dog ever, and I enjoyed playing with you. Like when you stole food from the counter and hurried up and ate it before we knew. My favorite thing you did was one day me and dad were watching a movie and somehow you took a package of hot dogs buns - don’t know where you got them from.

Skyler is a very lovable dog. She is daddy’s girl, only because he gives her treats. Anna enjoys taking her on rides to go to McDonald’s to get hamburgers and ice cream. Skyler cries when she is left alone because she just lost her best friend, Teddy. She can be a bed hog when allowed to get into the bed.

I got this cat as a rescue. He had been shaved. I took him to the vet right after I got him. The vet said he was days from death. I nursed him back to health with eye drops, ear drops, meds, and baths. I called him Ringo at first because he had ringworm. He turned out to be a beautiful long-haired grey tuxedo with an even more beautiful personality. I named him Squawky because he didn’t meow, he squawked. He was a sweet boy who was very friendly. He had a very good home with us for a long time. Eventually, I began to call him Little Man. I have no idea how old he was. I loved my little man very much! I still miss him!

OliverOliver’s life sets an example of the importance of proper vet care. He was Feline Leukemia (FeLV) positive when adopted, probably infected by his mother before his litter was surrendered to CBHS. Even with frequent check-ups, Oliver had two respiratory infections in his first year. As he was recovering from his third, a tumor ended his fight. With proper vet care for his mother and litter, Oliver might have lived a long and healthy life.

Although short, Oliver’s life was full of snuggles, play time, and love. His very favorite thing was snuggling with me, with Sage (his dignified ‘sister-cat’) and with Violet (his energetic ‘sister- pup’). He also loved to wrestle and groom Violet and play with the strings on sweatpants and the TP. Sage misses him, searching behind closed doors and at the top of the cat tower. I miss him too, my little kitty named after the O’s on his sides.

BuddyMy Buddy (1994-2007) and my Cindy (2007-2014) were my best friends and constant companions for 20 years. We lived in Arizona and Iowa and traveled extensively. They loved riding in the car and sleeping in the bed. Motels were no problem for them. I miss them so much but am comforted by my current rescue dog, Sheba. All three were touched by the Cedar Bend Humane Society with gentle kindness. Luanne Puhl

Tanner You were such a wonderful friend to so many people, especially those that you visited through P.E.T. P.A.L.S. The kids at CVPCCC were always excited as you arrived for a visit. They loved walking you, giving you hugs, and playing fetch. Nobody could have asked for a more

gentle friend. Likewise, the residents of Country View looked forward to your visits, wanting to hear all about you and hoping to get one of your kisses. Most of all, you were our special pet known as Our Handsome Man. You were always

ready to play and greet visitors bringing smiles to everyone. We miss you so much. Life just isn’t the same but we are glad that you are no longer in pain. Thank you for bringing so much joy into our lives. Jan Thompsen and Pete Kemp

Hershey was our first dog. She was a seven week old puppy when we adopted her from the Cedar Bend Humane Society. She was always good, easy to train, very smart. She loved walks, especially at Hartman Reserve. She lived to be 13. A good number of years, but we wanted her to be with us forever. She is in our hearts and we treasure her memory. AxelWho says you can’t buy love? Three years ago, a very reasonable adoption fee paid to the Cedar Bend Humane Society bought us theunconditional love and friendship of our companion Axel. We cannot imagine our lives without Axel now. We are so lucky he adopted us and we look forward to many years of happiness to come!

RamboWe adopted Rambo and had him in our house only for two months; however, he turned out to be incompatible with our other dog, and we had no choice but to take him to the Cedar Bend Humane Society. He is still there now, five long months later. We are confident Rambo is getting good care from the staff; but we are sure he misses personalized attention. He is a five year old staffordshire terrier and labrador retriever mix. Rambo is a loving, sweet, and smart dog, we got to know him very well in the two short months, and we fell in love with him, we miss him dearly. Please, consider giving Rambo a forever home!

Good news! Rambo has been adopted!

HawkeyeIn Memory of Hawkeye

Hawkeye came to us as an 8 week pup-py, and grew into a 140 Ib. giant labrador sweetheart. He thought he was a lap dog, and always guarded any new grandchildren by lying right next to them, and not moving until they did. If you were gone for five minutes or five days, his greeting was always the same - bounding joy, licking at your face, and a tail that wiggled so much you thought it would fly off! That tail did destroy several Christmas ornaments, and even brought one or two Christmas trees down! His only goal was to make you happy - if you were crying, he sat quietly next to you for as long as you needed. He was the closest example of perfection, and he is always with us in our hearts. Major was a four month old yellow lab who had already been adopted once and returned. He grew to be the kindest most patient, loyal, and loving dog. No matter how many times the younger kids looked in his ears, measured his tail, or used him as a toy to climb on, there was never a hint of a growl, only pure happiness. You were never alone if Major was home. He sat right next to you. The older he became, the more gentle he was - but he always kept his “slinky lion” walk - which made him even more adorable. He taught us true unconditional love and will always live on in our hearts, - forever and always.
