THERE ARE NO FACILITIES AT THE SHOWGROUND FOR DISPOSAL OF MILK.THE CATTLE CLASSES WILL BE GOVERNED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CURRENT DEFRAREGULATIONS IN PLACE AT THE TIME OF THE SHOW. THIS MAY INCLUDE ON FARM

ISOLATION OF SHOW LIVESTOCK, BIOSECURITY MEASURES AND ADDITIONALATTENDANCE RECORDING. DETAILS WILL BE PUBLISHED AS AVAILABLE.

1. BCMS Ca"le Passports. BCMS Instruc!ons on themovement to and from the showground will beissued to Exhibitors with !ckets etc. where necessary. The responsibility for comple!on of theca"le passport rests with the Exhibitor.

2. A milking parlour is available at the Showground for milking of dairy ca"le.3. Entries in the Dairy Classes will be accepted by exhibitor name only at close of entry on 26th June

2015. The FULL details of the Exhibit are to be forwarded to the Secretary before 15th July 2015for entry to be valid. Subs!tu!ons of Dairy Ca"le for the same class will bemade at the discre!onof Chief Ca"le Steward.

4. Classes may be amalgamated if less than 3 entries per class are received. The Bull Classes will beamalgamated within classes to “Bull any age” if insufficient entries are received or forward on theday, at the Judges discre!on.

4a. Breed classes may be amalgamated.5. Animals Calving before Showday will be transferred to the appropriate class.6. The sealing of teats is PROHIBITED and if found will be disqualified.7. All Ca"le must be halter trained and halter led.8. Full date of birth must be stated.9. Ca"le must be led by an experienced and competent handler. Calves may be led by junior

handlers at the discre!on of the Chief Ca"le Steward.10. Exhibitors are to be correctly dressed,with sensible footwear, accordingly to their Breed Society Rules.11. Exhibitors are subjected to Veterinary inspec!on before being allowed to unload.12. The Associa!on reserves the right to bar or seek the removal of unruly or ill-behaved animals13. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to provide shelter from extremes of weather.

GENERAL REGULATIONS AND CONDITIONSFOR THE EXHIBITION OF LIVESTOCK

GENERAL1. – By-Laws. The Society’s By-Laws, and Regula!ons, any condi!ons in the Prize List or any other

rules, regula!ons, condi!ons or schedules in any document published by the Society shall bebinding on all members and exhibitors.

2. – Local Boundary. Exhibitors eligible for a Honiton and District local award must be residents orbona fide occupiers of land within the local Boundary of the Devon-Dorset-Somerset CountyBoundary to where it crosses the M5Motorway. South on the M5 to junc!on 27. West alongthe Tiverton M5 Link Road, South down the River Exe to the Exe Estuary. When any exhibit isthe property of more than one person each owner must be qualified in the Local Boundary.(By-Law Clause 3)

3. – Cer!ficate of Entry. A cer!ficate of entry is enclosed with this schedule. Cer!ficates must becorrectly completed, signed by the Exhibitors and sent to the Secretary together with theamount of all fees on or before the day stated. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.

4. – Animal Health Declara!on. A declara!on rela!ng to the Health of animals being shown isincorporated in the Entry Form.

LIVESTOCK REGULATIONS OFHONITON AND DISTRICT AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION

1. CLASSIFICATION AND ENTRIES:(a) Unless designated as Open or Y.F.C. Classes all Classes are limited to exhibitors complying with Clause 3

of the By-Laws. Entries may bemade as stated in the current Schedule of Classes. All stock exhibited forprizes shall be bona fide in the legal ownership of the exhibitor at the !me of entry, or for such a periodas shall be set out under the condi!ons of the par!cular class concerned.

(b) Incorrect entries may not be transferred.(c) No exhibitor shall be en!tled to a prize unless his stock has been duly entered and proper entry forms

sent to the Secretary. All fees must be paid at !me of entry. Animals are allowed to compete in morethan one class on payment of addi!onal fees in the current Schedule of Classes.

(d) Prize money will be paid to the exhibitor as published in the Schedule of Classes.

2. COMPLIANCE WITH BREED SOCIETY REGULATIONS:All persons entering, compe!ng or exhibi!ng an animal of a class covered by a breed society either to whichthe Society is affiliated or which is affiliated to the Society shall be deemed to have consented to the jurisdic!onof the relevant breed society and be subject to its cons!tu!on and rules (including disciplinary procedures)insofar as they are applicable to any event, compe!!on or display promoted or arranged by the Society.

3. CLOSING DATE OF ENTRIES:Entries for the Annual Show shall close on a date or dates to be determined by the Council each year.Late entries will not be accepted.

4. FEES:Exhibitors who are not already members may make entries at the Members’ rates by paying the current year’ssubscrip!on. Details ofmembership are shownon the reverse of the Entry Form. All feesmust accompany entries.

5. PRIZES:(a) In all Classes the Judges may withhold one or more prizes if they are of the opinion that sufficient merit

has not been shown.(b) Unless otherwise stated in the Schedule of Classes, prizes offered relate to the number of entries

catalogued in each class: first, second and third prizes where there are at least 3 entries; a fourth prizewill only be awarded in any class where there are more than 6 entries; a fi#h prize will only be awardedwhere there are more than 8 entries.

6. ROSETTES:Rose"es awarded in previous classes must not be worn when exhibits are being judged in subsequent classes,except in the case of Championships.

7. CANCELLATION OF CLASSES:The Council reserve the right to cancel any class or to limit entries from any individual if entries are toonumerous.

8. ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE AND ATTENDANCE OF STOCK:(a) All stock, and persons in charge thereof, will be subject to the orders of the Stewards.(b) All stock exhibited for prizes must arrive on the Showground one hour before judging commences and

remain on the Showground as stated in the Schedule of Classes.(c) All stock remains the responsibility of the exhibitor whilst on the Showground and must be a"ended at

all !mes. Exhibitors must see that their stock or other exhibit is properly penned and cared for.(d) Only bona fide servants or agents of the Exhibitor will be allowed to enter the Show Yard in charge of

Stock and must produce !ckets, to be previously obtained from the Secretary.(e) Dis!nguishing number labels will be forwarded by the Secretary to Exhibitors and such labels shall be

conspicuously affixed to the animals and exhibits before they can be admi"ed to the Judging Ring.(f) All animalsmust be properly secured to the sa!sfac!on of the Society’s stewards or a"endants at the gate

to the Ground or they will not be admi"ed. All Bulls over 12 months of age on day of show must have aring on or clamp a"ached to the nose. In the aged classes one person using a rope or chain a"ached toa halter, with a competent person standing by able to assist in the control of the bull if necessary. In theabsence of a nose-ring control should be achieved by some other equally effec!ve means. Bulls must bedouble !ed in the lines. Exhibitors of bulls must also comply with Guidance Note GS36 issued by theHealth and Safety Execu!ve concerning the safe custody and handling of bulls at Agricultural Shows,Markets, and similar places off the farm. All other ca"le must be halter-led whilst in the Showground.

9. LIVESTOCK, TRANSPORT VEHICLES:Exhibitors’ livestock transport vehicles must park in the Park provided. Such vehicles will in no case be allowedto remain in the livestock lines, and will be removed by the Society if le# there.

10. PARADES:It is an express condi!on of entry in the Ca"le Sec!ons that all animals must be prepared to Parade in theMain Ring at the !me stated in the Show programme or as directed by the Council. Any exhibitor or exhibitor’sservant refusing to bring their Ca"le on parade at the specified !me when requested by the Stewards mayforfeit any prizes won by the animal in ques!on; and prizes so forfeited if already presentedmust be returnedto the Society at once.

11. CONCEALING EXHIBITS DURING SHOW:During the !me the Show is open to the public no shee!ng or other material may be affixed to any part ofthe livestock accommoda!on in such a way that any animal is concealed from public view except with theconsent of the Council or its Officers.

12. SAFETY:Exhibitors must sa!sfy themselves in all cases that the correct and appropriate restraining method andequipment is provided for use by animal handlers in respect of their stock when on the Showground.

13. FAKING:(a) HORSES. The use of soap resin, or any other substance on horses designed to give an ar!ficial

appearance, used above the knee, for turning up coats will result in disqualifica!on.(b) CATTLE, SHEEP. An animal found to be ar!ficially coloured or in any way faked will be disqualified.

14. CUPS AND TROPHIES:(a) Unless otherwise stated these are for Perpetual Compe!!on.(b) Undertaking for Safe Keeping. All winners of Cups and Trophies on receipt of Cups and Plinth (with Case

where appropriate) are responsible for preserving the same in Safe Keeping and to returning the Cup,Plinth and case to the Society.

15. OBJECTIONS:Any exhibitor or other person wishing to object to any award at the Showmust lodge his objec!on in wri!ngtogether with a cash deposit of £20.00 to the Secretary within two hours of the judging of the class to whichthe objec!on refers. If the Council consider on inves!ga!on that it is not jus!fied the person objec!ng shallforfeit the deposit. The deposit shall be returned in full if the objec!on is upheld. The Council’s decision shallbe final in all respects.

LIVESTOCK EXHIBITS – HEALTH REGULATIONS

16. DEFRA REGULATIONS:The Schedule of Classes is issued subject to the Orders and Regula!ons (if any) of DEFRA and the localAuthori!es which may be opera!ve at the !me of the Show, to which all exhibitors must comply.

17. CONTAGIOUS AND INFECTIOUS DISEASES:The exhibitor shall be liable to a fine to be decided by the Council if any animal which is sent by him shall showany signs or symptoms of any infec!ous or contagious diseases, provided that the existence of such diseasewas known or ought reasonably to have been known to him. No animal which has been in contact with anyanimal suffering from a contagious or infec!ous disease shall be sent to the Show.

18. VETERINARY INSPECTION:Animals sent for exhibi!on may at any !me on the instruc!on of the Judges, Stewards or other Officials ofthe Society be inspected by the Society’s Honorary Veterinary Surgeons. The Honorary Veterinary Surgeonswill be instructed to order the removal from the Showground of any animal which in their opinion is affectedby any disease likely to prove harmful to other animals or is in any way unfit for exhibi!on. The HonoraryVeterinary Surgeons shall hand a cer!ficate recording their findings to the person in charge of any rejectedanimal.

19. EMERGENCY TREATMENT:It is a condi!on of entry that the Society’s Honorary Veterinary Surgeons may on their own authority give toany animal such emergency treatment as they may consider appropriate in the event that the owner or hisrepresenta!ve cannot immediately be found.

20. VETERINARY SURGEONS’ FEES:Exhibitors shall reimburse direct at the !me of the Show, the Honorary Veterinary Surgeons’ fees for the fullcost of treatment administered.

21. DOPE TESTS:The Society strongly disapproves of the administra!on to Show exhibits (entered either for compe!!on orsale/demonstra!on) of tranquillisers or other drugs whichmay in anyway affect the performance of the animalin ques!on or have the effect of making it behave in the Showring in a manner which is not natural. Anyexhibitor (or his representa!ve) who is found to have administered or permi"ed knowingly or not theadministra!on of any such tranquillisers or drugs to any Show exhibit will be reported to the Council, and dealtwith at their discre!on. In addi!on thema"er will be referred to the appropriate Breed Society or Organisa!on.

22. HORSES:(a) STALLIONS. All stallions two years old and upwards shall be licensed under the Horse Breeding Act, 1958.

The number of the licence must be inserted in the space provided for that purpose on the entry form.(b) SOUNDNESS AND FREEDOM FROM HEREDITARY DISEASE

In all classes animalsmust be free from clinical signs of disease, injury, or physical abnormality such aswouldaffect the animal’s usefulness for breeding purposes. No veterinary inspec!onwill be required exceptwhenconsiderednecessary by the Judges or on a protest being lodged. Theowner of an animal rejectedmay, uponhis applica!on in wri!ng to the Secretary, be furnished with a copy of the veterinary cer!ficate and, if heso desires,may remove such animal from the Showground immediately a#er its rejec!on. Stallions or broodmares submi"ed to such veterinary examina!on for diseases or defects prescribed in Rule 9 of the HorseBreeding Rules, 1948, where appropriate, namely: cataract, roaring, whistling, ringbone (high or low), sidebone, bone spavin, navicular disease, shivering, stringhalt and defec!ve genital organs. Animalswhich havebeen hobdayed or otherwise operated on for their wind are not considered by the Sports Horse G.B. to besound and they are, therefore, not eligible for entry in Ridden orWorkingHunter Classes. Exhibitorswishingto object to an animal on these grounds must do so in accordance with the rules of the Show. Judges willin no way be responsible for deciding whether a horse has been hobdayed etc., or not.

(c) EQUINE FLU. The Associa!on strongly recommends that all horses and ponies should be innoculatedagainst Equine Influenza before the Show. The Associa!on’s Veterinary Officers will carry out regularchecks and the Stewards, at their discre!on, are empowered to require any horse or pony showingclinical signs of Equine Influenza to be immediately removed from the Showground. In the event of aserious outbreak, the Associa!on reserves the right to require Vaccina!on Cer!ficates to be produced.

(d) No entry in the Horse and Pony Classes shall be rejected on veterinary grounds except on the cer!ficateof two of the Society’s Honorary Veterinary Surgeons.

23. CATTLE – TUBERCULOSIS & BRUCELLOSIS, ETC:All ca"le must be from herds on which no movement restric!ons have been served by DEFRA. No animalaccepted for entry may be exhibited if, a#er entry, such movement controls are imposed.

HORSES24. REGISTRATION IN STUD BOOKS:

Every animal entered for compe!!ons in the horse, pony and jumping classes shall, where appropriate, beentered or accepted for entry in the respec!ve Breed Stud Book proper or register of its breed in this country,and all exhibitors must comply with those breed Society Regula!ons where appropriate. All Classes will bejudged in accordance with the Rules and accepted Standards of the respec!ve Breed Society.

25. DIVISION OF CLASSES:Where there are 20 entries or more in a class, the class will be divided, into colts, geldings and fillies.

26. RIDERS:Owners of Riding Horses shall be allowed to ride or to select any person they please to ride or jump theirhorses at the Show.

27. BROOD MARES:Brood Mares must have their own foals at foot unless otherwise stated in the schedule, Prize List or in theclass rela!ng to brood mares.

28. NOMINATION AND SUBSTITUTE ENTRIES:Nomina!on entries are not allowed unless otherwise stated in the schedule or Prize List. Subs!tute entrieswill be subject to the Secretary’s discre!on and an addi!onal entry fee.

29. HEIGHT AND MEASUREMENT REGULATIONS:Animals entered in classes with condi!ons as to height (except those for which an official height cer!ficatehas been issued by the Joint Measurement Scheme and is produced) may be measured on the Showgroundat the Judges request. Half an inch will be allowed for normal shoes. In the Pony Breeding and Young StockClasses, Ponies must come into the Ring for the class for which they are entered if they wish to be measuredout to the next Class, otherwise they will not be allowed to compete.

30. AGE OF HORSES:The age of horses to be calculated as at January 1st.

31. TRANSFER TO APPROPRIATE CLASS:The Judge has power to transfer an animal in the Riding classes to a heavier weight class if he is of the opinionthat it should have been so entered. Ponies measured over height in the young stock classes may betransferred to the next height class.

CATTLE32. ACCOMMODATION:

All animals belonging to one exhibitor will stand together in their respec!ve breed lines. Exhibitors arerequested to provide ‘Name Breeds’.

33. REGISTRATION:Every animal entered for compe!!on shall be entered, or accepted for entry in the Herd Book, GradingRegister or other official Register of its breed in this country under condi!ons as laid down in each breedsec!on in the Prize List.

34. CATTLE:Where milk and bu"er fat qualifying yields are required (see special condi!ons rela!ng to each Breed) acer!ficate issued by the Na!onal Milk Records or other qualified authority must accompany the Entry Form.

35. PROGENY CLASSES:Entries must be made in these classes at date of entries closing and will appear in the Catalogue. Name ofsire must be given.

36. TRANSFER TO APPROPRIATE CLASS:Cows and Heifers entered as in-calf and subsequently calving before the Show, or entered as in-milk and nothaving calved before the Show, will be transferred to the appropriate class.

37. MILKING FACILITIES:A milking parlour will be available in the ca"le lines. Exhibitors MUST dispose of their own milk.

38. ENTRY IN MORE THAN ONE CLASS:Animals entered in the ca"le classes are only eligible for exhibi!on in ONE of the BREED classes other thangroup classes.

SHEEP39. ACCOMMODATION:

All animalsbelonging tooneexhibitorwill stand inadjoiningpens. Exhibitors are requested toprovide ‘NameBoards’.

40. FLOCK BOOK ENTRY:Sheep entered in the Breed Classes must be from flocks registered in the Flock Book of their Breed and shallbe marked and/or shorn in accordance with the rules of their respec!ve Breed Socie!es.

41. AGE:Unless otherwise defined, shearlings, in all classes shall relate to sheep born in the calendar year precedingthe relevant Show; and lambs shall have been born in the calendar year of the relevant Show.

42. NURSING EWES:Nursing Ewes will not be admi"ed into the Showground.

GENERAL43. INTERPRETATION CLAUSE APPLICABLE TO ALL BY-LAWS AND REGULATIONS:

The Society reserves to itself by its Council the sole and absolute right to interpret these or any otherprescribed condi!ons and regula!ons, or Prize list, and to se"le and determine all ma"ers, ques!ons, ordifferences in regard thereto, or otherwise arising out of or connected with or incident to the Show.
