Dear students, friends and teachersCan you imagine - as per the CCH syllabus, a student has to spend 5000 hours inside the class room during his BHMS course? Utilized it effectively? Teachers and students must introspect. Acute shortage of dedicated and competent faculty is one of the challenges faced by the homoeopathic institutions in India. Learning homeopathy is an uphill and often very frustrating journey in homoeopathy colleges. Quality of teaching is directly linked with quality of patient care. Majority of the teachers has no faith in Homoeopathy. A good homeopathy teacher should be a good practitioner. A teacher without clinical skillsor private practice will not arouse faith of the students especially if he is teaching clinical subjects. We have to demonstrate homeopathy in our IPD & OPD. Always remember that students will not believe in what you say but what you do. Unless we believe/experience the result in what we are teaching, we are not able to convince our students.

Many teachers think that, he is a paid employee and therefore his duty is only to teach in the prescribed period without knowing the pulse of the student. Thus students lose interest in the particular subject that is being taught. The students after completing the BHMS course are in the dark and unable to decide upon the future. If the teacher takes interest and give some guidance and counseling this problem will be solved. There is a need to allow teaching staff and medical officers more allowances. Many of the homeopathic medical colleges and corporate clinics are giving comparatively less salary to teachers and medical officers. That results in dissatisfaction among the doctors.

You had learnt a lot from your institute. Here after you will get opportunity to learn from eminent speakers like Smt Parinaz Humaranwala, Prafull Vijayakar,George Vithoulkas, Rajan Sankaran, Jeremey Sherr, Jan Scholten, Faroke Master,A.U. Ramakrishnan and other popular homeopaths of modern times through CME programmes. Since regular teachers are forced to lecture on a prescribed syllabus.But one request. Dont try a new method of prescription immediately after a seminar. You may be disappointed. Try to understand their methods through their books and cases. Their knowledge of Materia Medica, Repertory and Case-Taking may be superior and different from us.

After reading the base books like Organon of medicine, materia medica pura etc. only then explore the newer methods of prescription. These new teachers methods are tools that add to your armor,they do not and cannot replace the basics of Hahnemannian homeopathy.

Organon is our user manualIf we want to utilize a gadget or instrument effectively, we have to read the user manual thoroughly. Similarly if we want to get the concept or inner core of Homoeopathy we must read every word of Hahnemannand the old masters, many times over. You do not need fancy ideas to do miracle cures than the masters.

From the first day of homoeopathy college when you were introduced to your cadaver, you have endured countless lectures and lab hours, physical examination and sensitivity training sessions, and ward rotations under the watchful eye of teachers. Today, we will hold something that few people is privileged to sign behind their name: the letters BHMS or M.D.Still an ocean of knowledge to acquire. Empty your cup, a full cup cannot accept anything more. Similarly a person believes that he had learnt a lot cannot learning anything else and will stagnate quickly and not move to higher levels.We are giving much importance to subjects like Anatomy, Surgery, Gynaecology etc during BHMS. But majority students even after completing five and half years of BHMS course dont know how to put a catheter, how to remove a catheter or how to give an IV. But our students are well trained in this aspect. We must have a sound knowledge on accessory managements. These accessory managements are not the monopoly of any of the medical systems but invention of science. We can send our patients for dialysis or physiotherapy homoeopathy medicines along with accessory management offers excellent results. But despite all of these realities, there remain some wonderful aspects of Homoeopathy medicine. People still will look up to you. People will still respect what you do and say. People will trust you, confide in you, and appreciate your efforts. You can do amazing things for people.Be a part of your communities beyond your own workplace. We are also a part of society. I really appreciate the private practitioners because they are the back bone of Homoeopathy. We have to support them. They are in touch with common man always than a teacher or researcher in homoeopathy. They get more social reputation and financial nurture than an academician or administrator.Be on time in your clinic. Develop the essential habit of punctuality for it is most important for high success. Punctuality reflects discipline and proper regard for others. Without it, even the most sophisticated person appears slightly offensive.Time is same to all, some make it as good time by using it in the right way. Some neglect it by wasting. Whether you go into research, business, public service or education, private practice after BHMS - neither you nor society can continue to survive or prosper simply by implementing what is already known. Somebody is going to have to come up with meaningful new ideas, creative new approaches and important new discoveries. Why cant that somebody be you?- So come up the new idea for the propagation and prosperity of homoeopathy.Homoeopathy needs a revamp and it is high-time for the new generation doctors to take up this enormous responsibility on their shoulders to carry this system forward. So we have to break the inertia. Because our attitude determines our altitude A small change in attitude makes big difference. We must have good vision loyalty and dedication. Take homoeopathy in to greater heights.
