TechnologyMain Points Details1. Fiber optics increases the power and speed of the Internet → Fiber optics cables currently deliver information 1000 times faster and 100 times farther. Is used by many telecommunications companies to transmit telephone signals, internet communication, and cable television signals, as well as the communications, commerce, physicists, and engineers constantly endeavor to increase its power and speed.

2. Definition of fiber optics → Fiber optic refers to the medium and the technology associated with the transmission of information as light impulses along a glass or plastic wire or fiber. Fiber optic wire carries much more information than conventional copper wire and is far less subject to electromagnetic interference. Most telephone company long-distance lines are now fiber optic.

3. Advantages of fiber optics → Optical fibers are ideally suited for carrying digital information, which is especially useful in computer networks; this allows more phone lines to go over the same cable through the cable into your business or home. These advantages, you see fiber optics in many industries, most notably telecommunications and computer networks. For example, if you telephone Europe from the United States and the signal is bounced off a communications satellite, you often hear an echo on the line. But with transatlantic fiber-optic cables, you have a direct connection with no echoes.

4. How fiber optics works → works by using a light source adjacent to the fiber such as a light emitting di0de (LED) or laser to produce and digitally encode the light signal. This light travels through the core of the fiber, which is composed of pure flexible glass. The purer the glass, the clearer the signal.

5. Problems in delivering fiber optics to the home → It is necessary to distribute the fibers among millions of users.

Application Needs the TechnologyMain Points Details1. The Internet of the future needs fiber optics technology. → Now days a recent studies asseverate in the next two years internet traffic will increase fifty-fold.

a) Fiber optics can meet bandwidth demands of proposed software applications. → In the present software applications like in the smartphones or 3D virtual word application for computers, has a high demand of faster connection speeds.

2. Fiber optics will be the standard medium in the future. → Everyday increase the costumers that use the world wide with fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), actually more than 10 million around the world
