Powder Puff FootballAfter weeks of preparation, the day finally arrived: the Powder Puff football game was here. Adrenaline was in the air between Juniors and Seniors. Who was going to win? When they met at the football field, the Seniors were dressed in dark blue jerseys and red flags, the Juniors in white jerseys with blue flags. The girls were ready to fight for their class, each one out for blood.

But the girls weren't alone. From the sidelines, Senior and Junior boys dressed up in full cheer uniforms and cheered them on. They came as close as they could to the real cheer squad: they performed, they cheered with the crowd, and if you talk to any Senior, they were the best part of the game.

After a long hard battle, and dozens of personal fouls on both sides, the Juniors came out on top. The final score, 19-2 proved to Westlake High School that the Junior girls have what it takes to win.

Homecoming ParadeThe Homecoming Parade had a large group of people come to march this year. About one hundred students from elementary schools including Thunder Ridge, Harvest Hills, and Pony Express came to march in the parade, screaming out cheers for their school.

The Marching Thunder led the parade, playing the Westlake Fight song among other familiar tunes.

The Cross Country and Tennis teams also participated, with the Homecoming Court bringing up the rear, carrying paper dragons.

Parents and children and some Westlake students watched from the grass as some schools threw candy out to onlookers.

Each group led onto the track was announced with a few fun facts each, as students, parents, and siblings cheered from the stands. It was one very loud march that continues to grow bigger and louder year by year and is sure to continue in that way.

Westlake took the win on friday night at our Homecoming Game. It all started with the stands slowly filling up with anxious, prideful, Westlake students. Proud students and parents of The Mighty Westlake knew they would take the win in the Homecoming game.

We started out the marvelous evening announcing the 2012-2013 Homecoming Kings and Queens of the Knight of the Dragons. Brenden Garrett, Student Body President, won Homecoming Senior King, Chase Curtis as Junior King, Jannelle Morgan as senior Queen, Chase Miller as junior prince, and Aubrey Landvatter as our junior queen. Great job to the nominees Pablo, Jose, Maddie, Kylee, Abby, Kreston, Oakley, and Eric !

Our amazing Drill team, The Storm along side with the Cheerleaders entertained us with a dance routine during half time, after our Marching Band and Color Guard performed their competition routine!

Now, enough about our great half-time, its all about the Thunder Football team ! Murray tried, but not hard enough for the Mighty Thunder. We went into overtime, tying 16-16 after a Murray athlete kicked

a field goal. Angry and tired, Boom Squad students did not give up hope on their team . Westlake Thunder struck, and made a touchdown to win for our Homecoming game!

All of the many excited students stormed out to the field celebrating our victory.

"I believe that we will win, I believe that we will win, I believe that we will win." FOREVER A SON OF THOR! initialating FOOTBALL !!!

Westlake’s 2012 Homecoming, Night of the Dragon was a success. Students walked through the library into an Oriental Courtyard. They danced, sang, and had an phenomenal time! It was beautiful and not too cold for an outside dance. Lanterns, origami, fortune cookies,

and cherry blossoms made it a special night.
