Definition:
• NHS GGC defines lone workers as:
“Employees whose working activities can involve periods of time during their working day where ther are without any kind on close or direct supervision or in contact with other colleagues.”
Policy
• Lone working Policy for NHS Greater Galsgow & Clyde
• Ensuring that risk in relation to lone working is
assessed in a systematic and ongoing way and that safe systems and methods of work are put in place to reduce the risk so far as is reasonably practicable.
• Additional local area protocol for initial home visits
Home Risk Assessment/Checklist
• Demographic details• 5 areas • Level of risk considering existing control measures• Action plan• Placed in patients care plan
5 Areas: Area 1
• Before visit: Do you know location?Do you know how to get there?Does patient know that you are coming?Do you require a key or code (key holder/key safe)Do you have contact numbers for client/ next of kin?Pervious experience/knowledge of client (e.g
violence/aggression/alcohol/drugs)Is the visit during unsocial hours or hours of darkness?
Area 2
• On Arrival:ParkingLightingAccess to propertySurroundingsHouse type (detached, Semi, tenements, multi storey)Lift (operational) Stairs (no of flights)
Area 3:
