Building Update

At present our builders are pouring concrete for footings for both the new classrooms and the hall. There may be some interruption to traffic in Brisbane street during this time. Please be mindful that there will be an increase in heavy vehicle traffic this week. I would suggest you avoid the area and drop off children in Bourke or Napier Streets.

Asthma Alert Days

Parents are reminded that during this period of lingering bushfire smoke many of our students who suffer from asthma struggle during physical education lessons or just in normal play. Please send them to school with their asthma puffers or, if they have a serious medical condition consider whether having them running around outside would be detrimental. As a school we are very conscience of those students who have an Asthma Management Plan and will find alternate things for them to do to avoid outside exertion or exposure.

Last Full School Assembly

Please make sure your children have handed in any awards they would like processed this year by WEEK 6, FRIDAY 22 NOVEMBER 2019.

Year 6 need to have their awards handed in as soon as possible, Kindergarten to Year 5 can carry over until next year.

Thank you to everyone for handing in their awards this year. Just a reminder that office staff do not keep records of who has been given awards. It is up to the student (or parent) to monitor this. We are unable to produce special awards without the appropriate merit awards attached.

Remember that all awards can be carried over from year to year so keep them in a safe place. As soon as you have the required amount of awards please hand them in to receive your next higher award. Do not ‘save’ them until the end of year.

SHOW DON’T TELLSweat building up, the cold air pricked the back of Josh’s neck, the clouds only letting in the soft glow from the Sun’s beaming rays. With the breath-taking backdrop of The Himalayas, if he makes it across and retrieves the fortune, his victory photo will look incredible, but are treasures and a photo worth this unforgiving risk? That, Josh isn’t so sure about. The pros and cons weighing in his mind, and the (questionable) encouragement from his brother made this life-changing decision the slightest bit easier. The icy feeling of the thin wires made him tremble, but by now, it was too late to turn back. With fear-engulfed, steady steps, the endless riches were slowly getting closer. Suddenly, the fear that had been building up inside of him tore itself out and was released, and Josh’s legs painfully buckled. No more steadiness, no more calm, just panic and heavy fear. Without a thought, he leaped, but it only fell short.

Screaming, sirens, black.

The Big Camp Out Armidale 2019 – for schools Hands up if you like camping?

Well, I’ve got a quick piece of news for all the dads, father-figures and also for all the kids here today!

In November, you have the chance to go and enjoy an exciting sleep-over Camp Out at Rugby League Park (home of the Rams)!

This event is called the Big Camp Out and it’s run by an organisation called The Fathering Project. We think it’ll be a great time, and even a couple of dads and families at our school might already have tickets?

It sounds like it will be heaps of fun, with lots of quality fathering time and other fun activities like arts and crafts, blind fold sports, camp cooking and more! For more information, please contact: John Everett Armidale Coordinator ([email protected])

Charity DayCharity Day will be held on Friday 1 November, 2019 (Week 3) between recess and lunch. Everyone loves Charity Day and the stalls are getting bigger and better each year.If your child has an idea for a stall, they need to discuss it with their teacher, then fill out the information form signed by their teacher and then place it in the box outside of Mrs Wilson’s room. Some ideas for stalls are: Guessing competitions, food stalls, games and activities, finger nail painting, arts and craft, hair decorating, lucky dips just to name a few.No stall is allowed to have any electrical appliances. We will supply the tables for the stalls.Every year we raise an amazing amount of money which is then split between 5 charities that the SRC choose.Thankyou to all the parents that generously donate all the items for the stall.
