It is however not hard and expensive in most situations.

There are a few steps to take for you to determine how to

protect your home or business from a burglary or other form of

criminal activity.

In this E-book I will provide you with a step by step plan to

come to an affordable solution for home security and how to

protect you and your loved ones.

Chapter 1

Where to start.

One of the questions I get is that a lot of people do not know

where to start with a home security project.

They all realize that they have to do something to protect their

house or business from being broken into, but having a hard

time figuring out how and where to start.

One of the things I have done in my research is trying to find

information that was written or told by people who used to

break into houses. That is the best source of information to find

in my opinion.

Learn from the people who can tell you exactly.

How they find the right house

How they decide when to do it

How they get in

How they want to get out

After reading interviews with burglars I realized that they all

used about the same approach and tactics to find a target.


There are 2 basic models for a burglary.

The accidental opportunity

This is where someone by accident end up in a situation that

has the opportunity to take something that they can sell quickly

for some cash.

This can be as simple as a car door that is open, or an open

window. Or maybe someone who leaves her purse unprotected

on a shopping cart. These situations are probably familiar to all

of us.

These situations are also easy to avoid, by paying attention to

our surroundings and try not to give that opportunity.

In the next chapter I will tell you how to find the weak spots in

your house or in the way you live your life.

After deciding where the opportunities are in your house and

life you can turn them into a secured point in your home or

business and reduce the change on a burglary.


The planned burglary.

The planned burglary is a totally different thing. This is where

your house most of the time is observed for a while. This is to

find out your habits and daily routines and to decide on the

best time for a burglary.

Just a little site note. Opposite to what most people think, most burglaries happen

during the day time and not at night like most of us would suspect.

What a burglar wants is:

Get in easy without being seen or making noise

Find valuable things as easy as possible

Find thing that are easy to sell

Get out as fast as possible

They look at the best way to get in without making noise or

being seen from the road or by the neighbors. Get some

valuable easy to sell items and get out as fast as possible.

Now we know what they want it is easier to get started with a

home security project and protect our house as good as

possible for an affordable price.


Chapter 2

How to find the weak spots

This part of planning a home security plan is actually pretty

straight forward. All you have to do is:

“Think about and look at your house or business as if you were

a burglar”

This part can just take you from a couple of minutes to maybe

half a day. This all depends on your situation.

If you live in an apartment on the sixth floor there are other

opportunities than if you live in a house in the country on 5 acres.

There is however not so much difference in the approach,

Determine what the easiest way is to access your property. For

an apartment this can be the front door a window. For a business

this can be things like a back door, or even a loading dock.

Also keep in mind what I mentioned earlier about not being seen

by anyone.

I suggest to make a list of all door and windows and write down

on a scale of 1 to 10 how well likely it is that it will be used by a


burglar. Taking in consideration the no noise and low visibility

they like to see.

After this is it a lot easier to decide where to start with your

security plan.

The best place to start is with the door or window with the

highest score. Meaning that this is the easiest and less noticeable

way of entering your house or business.

The next step is deciding on what to use to secure this door or

window. There are many devices available to do this, but it is not

easy and actually impossible to tell you what to use without

knowing all the details.

There is one thing that I can tell you and that is just a proven fact.

“Any home security device is better than using nothing”

A simple door alarm or even just a sticker is better than using

nothing at all.

This could be a long chapter if I was going to list all the available

But after deciding where our weak spots are I think we can

The choice of installing you system yourself or hire someone to

do it for you can only be answered by you.

Most products in my store are so easy to install that even I can

do it myself. And I am not the best handyman out there.
