NRL Gala Day
On Thursday last week the year 2,3,4,5 and 6's
had a NRL Gala day down at Buz Brazel Oval to
compete against Bowraville Central, Stuarts Point
Public, St Mary's and Eungai Public. Everyone had
an amazing time getting the football, getting a try
and playing a fun game that involved everyone.
Once everyone played their games as a team
using lots of teamwork, they all were really puffed
and sweating from playing. We all had an amazing
time and we can't wait to do it again at the
Bowraville Memorial Cup in October. By Liam

Dear Parents and Carers
With the fire season upon us it is really important that
all the community know our Fire Plan.
EMERGENCY RESPONSE PROCEDURES in Case of Fire
The following Emergency Response Plan was developed /
updated in consultation with the Rural Fire Service on
Thursday 5 September 2019.
The off-site evacuation assembly area is at Club Scotts
located on West Street.
Note: Designated safe assembly areas and access routes
will need to be reconsidered in consultation with
emergency services at the time of the emergency.
Evacuation: walking
CHECK FOR ROAD CLOSURES:

Check Fires Near Me!
EVACUATION PROCEDURE
The evacuation of occupants will take place only under
the direction of the incident controller of the Fire &
Rescue NSW, NSW Rural Fire Service or NSW Police.
However, if it is apparent that the lives of persons will be
endangered unless they are evacuated immediately and
the Principal is unable to contact the appropriate
emergency services, the Principal will make immediate
arrangements to evacuate to a safe place, if it is safe to
do so. In such cases, transport arrangements will be
implemented in consultation with local police.
Response:
If parents arrive to collect children prior to the arrival of
the evacuation, the children will be released into parent
custody from classrooms and class rolls will be amended.
A note will be left on school gate on Vernon Street to
ensure emergency services know we have been
evacuated and to inform parents of student’s location.
STAY and DEFEND PROCEDURE (where circumstances
prevent safe evacuation)
Onsite location (stays and defends) – where safe
evacuation is not possible, as per consultation with Rural
Fire Service (RFS), all students will be moved into the
library and office area. This building has a water supply ,
toilets and air conditioning.
This Week’s Whale Awards and Outstanding Progress Awards Principal’s Column
Parents will be alerted through social media
of decisions.
Good luck to the students representing our
school at the North Coast Athletics on Friday.
Thanks, yaarri yaraang, terima kasih.

A number of questions have been raised on the Expression of Interest Form for the 2020 Canberra
Excursion. Below are responses to questions/comments raised on the forms received so far.
There will be NO skiing. Children will be playing in the snow.
The length of the excursion is yet to be confirmed.
Canberra excursions are on a 3 year cycle. Senior excursions are combined each year with Eungai,
Stuarts Point and Medlow Public Schools. The Principal’s decide the location of the excursion.
A payment plan will be organised for early next year.
Fundraising to subsidise — this may be discussed by the P&C in 2020.

We fall into two broad groups on the subject of climate change.
Half the people are overwhelmed by the dire predictions of its
effects and can see no solutions. Their response is to deny it is
happening. The other half of us want to do something to lessen
the effects of climate change but don’t really know what to do.
The documentary 2040 provides solutions. Damon Gameau, the
maker of That Sugar Film, travelled the world searching for
solutions that are being tried now, solutions that will be widely
used in 2040.
2040 is a truly inspirational film. It will be shown in Scotts Head.
When: Friday 20 September
Where: LLL Centre at the Scotts Head Public School
Time: 7-8.30 pm showing time followed by discussion
and coffee/tea
Cost: Gold coin donation
Organiser: Michael Blockey
