Mr McGrath and Mr Tyrrell were very pleased with the quality of the projects. Mrs Bell accompanied four students to represent our school at the Bonny Hills CWA Day. She was very impressed and proud of their efforts and delivery of their speeches. SPORTING EVENTS Our school has been represented at many different sports over the last few weeks with some very impressive results. Congratulaons to students on their skill, effort and sportsmanship. I would also like to acknowledge the very dedicated staff who give up so much of their personal me to train and manage teams and individual students, ensuring they have access to a wide range of sporng opportunies. Thank you to our families who transport, cheer and support, not only their own children but their fellow team mates. ANZAC DAY Our school Anzac Day ceremony will be held next Friday, 12th April at 10.45am near the flagpole. Student Council representaves will co-ordinate the ceremony with student buglers involved. Parents and carers are welcome to aend. PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE VISION: North Haven Public School, in partnership with our community, promotes and provides a dynamic, future-focused learning environment fostering equity and excellence. Our school will deliver opportunies for every student to become a successful learner and a caring, confident, creave individual. EASTER CELEBRATIONS Families are invited to school next Wednesday 10th April for what will be a fun morning at school with our K-2 Hat Parade and Stage 2 Eggshibion. The canteen will host a delicious morning tea and the P&C will draw their Easter raffle. There will also be a guessing compeon to guess how many easter eggs are in the jar. Tickets are $1.00 and the prize is the jar of eggs! WALK-A-THON Our walk-a-thon will be next Thursday and I look forward to welcoming families to join their child’s class, wearing their most comfy walking shoes. We will be leaving school around 9.30 am. Dear Parents, carers and community members,

CWA International Day Congratulations to all Year 4 students who prepared a project on Papua New Guinea for CWA International Day. Clean Up the School Day Our term 1 clean up will be held next Friday, 12th April for primary students. Students in Years 3-6 may bring rubber, disposable or gardening gloves for this activity if they wish. There should not be too much rubbish to collect if all students remember to take pride in our great school and continue to use the cool new blue mini wheelie bins for their rubbish. We believe this approach supports a clean and tidy environment for the whole year.

Uniform Shop News The cooler mornings are now upon us, so now is the time to check if your child’s school jumper or long pants/trackpants need replacing. There are only two more Uniform Shop opening days before the end of term, so get your order in now so that your child will be ready for school in term 2. Uniform Shop Hours are -

Walk-a-thon Our annual walk-a-thon will be held next Thursday 11th April for all students K-6. K-2 Walk along river to the park near the boat ramp (before the North Haven bridge) Primary Walk to North Haven Beach We leave school at approximately 9.30 am. Parents are welcome to walk with their child’s class on the walk-a-thon if they wish.

PERMISSION NOTES NEED TO BE RETURNED BY TUESDAY 9TH APRIL

Students participating in the walk-a-thon will receive an ice block from the P&C / canteen at the completion of their walk.

All students should wear school uniform including suitable footwear

and a hat.

Anzac Day March

Each year students from North Haven Public School join some of the staff to march in the ANZAC Day parade at Laurieton, from the LUSC to the memorial park opposite the police station. This year ANZAC Day falls at the end of the holidays on Thursday, 25th April. We are inviting students to consider participating in the parade. It is particularly special if Year Six are able to join us in their last year of primary school. Date Thursday 25th April 2019

K-2 HAT PARADE A Hat Parade will be held on Wednesday, 10th April for students K-2. Families are encouraged to start making their Easter hat. Do not go to any great expense. Re-use craft scraps, cardboard, or other bits and pieces you already have at home. The parade will be at 10:30am. Families are welcome to attend the parade and have morning tea/recess with their child. Normal classes will resume at 11:30am. Parent/carers are requested NOT to take their child home early.

STAGE 2 EGGSHIBITION PROJECTS Using a play on words with the egg theme at Easter, stage 2 students are creating a diorama to show “Egg ___________ “ words with as much cre-eggtivity as they can eggsperiment with. They are making a scene showing their chosen word, eg. A couple of eggs escaping from a cell (EGGSCAPE) or a couple of eggs climbing Mt Everest (EGGSPEDITION). Entries due Monday 8th April Judging Wednesday 10th April Families may view the ‘Eggshibition’ projects after recess on Wednesday 10th April.

P&C EASTER FUNDRAISER

Please support the P&C Easter fundraising effort by donating some Easter eggs, Easter bunnies, Easter craft or any Easter item (maximum $5 value) and help sell some tickets to family, neighbours or work colleagues. All of the donated items will be made into Easter baskets. The raffle will be drawn after the Hat Parade on Wednesday, 10th April. A book of tickets was recently sent home for each family. Extra tickets are available at the office.

Following recent studies completed on Papua New Guinea, four Year 4 students were invited to attend the CWA International Day on Papua New Guinea, at the Bonny Hills Community Centre. Students showed the CWA members their posters and presented a short talk about what they had learnt. Students representing NHPS were – Ruby Luke, Isaac Meyers, Koby Lee and Cailan George. All four children were congratulated for their loud, clear voices and for their ability to amuse the ladies as well.
