Minibeasts It is that time of year when we see lots of our creepy, crawly friends out and about in
our gardens! There are so many minibeasts – spiders, worms, caterpillars, butterflies,
woodlouse, snails and many, many more! Minibeasts help us in different ways, for
example bees collect nectar to make us honey, yum! This week, as much as safely
possible, we would like you to be looking for minibeasts in your garden or on a walk
for your daily exercise.
We have lots of fun activities you can do below!
What am I?
Descirbe different minibeasts and see if your mum or dad can guess what it is?
It is red and has spots?
It wiggles on the ground and turns in to a butterfly?
It is brown and wiggles in to the ground?
It uses nectar from flowers to make honey?
Can you draw the minibeasts that you have guessed?
Minibeast Books!
Moving like minibeasts!
Can you move like a minibeast?
Use the cards to help you
The Hungry Caterpillar
We all love the story of ‘The Hungry Caterpillar!’ Why not
collect leaves in your garden to make your own caterpillar.
Then using a toilet roll, small box and coloured pens and
paper make your own beautiful butterfly!
Minibeast hotel
Collect a range of sticks,
twigs and grass to make a
hotel for the minibeasts in
your garden to visit.
How many visited?
Which ones visited?
How long did they stay?
We are missing you all and would love you to keep in touch. Why don’t you let us
know which activities you have tried? You are welcome to upload photos to our
Facebook page or email them directly.
The Nursery Team
Craft fun!
There are so many different things we can make in to minibeasts!
Why not collect stones and paint them
red with black spots…..
Cut out shapes to make a
minibeast, can someone guess
what it is?
Why not cut out a spider and add
some legs using pegs, can you count
how many you have?
