HOME ENERGY AUDITSThe first step to improving your home’s energy efficiency.
What is a home energy audit?A home energy audit helps you pinpoint where your house is losing energy and what you can do to save money. A home energy auditor will also assess health and safety issues that might exist in your home.
The audit involves two parts: the home assessment and an analysis using computer software.

1Excess Air Leakage The potential energy savings from reducing drafts in a home may range from 5% to 30% per year, and the home is generally much more comfortable afterwards.
2Low Insulation Levels If you can see rafters in your attic, that’s a sure sign that even minor upgrades can dramatically improve your comfort and efficiency.

Safety Concerns Safety concerns include gas leaks, exhaust and carbon monoxide issues. “About a quarter of the homes we go into have combustion issues or gas leaks.” – BPI Certified Auditor, Cory Tobin
4Duct Leakage Duct leakage is often caused by inadequately sealed ductwork or rodents with an appetite. Leaky ducts affect your comfort and energy savings.
Underperforming Products Old equipment with dated technology and wear & tear can run at efficiencies as low as 60%. “That’s $.40 of every dollar spent on heating that’s lost up the chimney.” – BPI Certified Auditor, Cory Tobin
