HBA BOARD OF TRUSTEES ELECTIONS PLEASE READ CAREFULLY & MAKE SURE YOUR COMPANY VOTES!

We will be taking nominations from the members for positions on our Board of Directors until September 25.

You must call in, fax or email your nominations by this date. We will then call your nominees to see if they are interested in serving on the Board. The elections will take place according to the By-Laws:

ARTICLE 9 NOMINATIONS & ELECTIONS Section 9.2 Nominations for Positions in this Chapter. All nominees must be members in good standing. The Board of Trustees shall hear the recommenda-tions of the Nominating Committee for all offices and special assignments at the Board Meeting in October each year, and elections shall be held by the general membership via mailings to be sent, upon approval of the ballot by the Board, im-mediately following the October Board meeting and received by the HBA office by the end of October. Only one vote per member company will be mailed. Section 9.3 Nominations from the Floor. Nominations for the position of Trustee may be made from the floor from the General Membership at the September gen-eral membership meeting. Any such nominee must be a member in good stand-ing. Any such nomination must be in writing and must have attached the written consent of the member to accept the nomination. Only one person per member company may be nominated. Section 9.4 Contested Elections. In the event that more than two (2) candidates are named for any one office, a majority of the members voting shall be neces-sary to elect. In the event such majority is not obtained, then a second vote shall be taken upon the two (2) candidates receiving the greatest number of votes.

STATE REP'S REPORT

Ladies and Gentlemen - Last week I had the opportunity to testify at a round table hearing to the US Small Business Administration, Office of Advocacy on regulations that ham-per us as builders and related small business. The meeting went well and we were well received. That being said...... One thing I did learn from our meeting and my subsequent conversations with the SBA officials was about the SBA's Office of Ombudsman. This is a federal agency charged with serving us against federal agencies. How cool is that! I didn't know that this organization even existed. Please check this out and keep it for future reference should you ever need it, as their mission is something that could prove very valuable to any one of you. The National Ombudsman's mission is to assist small businesses when they ex-perience excessive or unfair federal regulatory enforcement actions, such as re-petitive audits or investigations, excessive fines, penalties, threats, retaliation or other unfair enforcement action by a federal agency.
