Plan and prepare for an ‘Out of Lockdown Celebration’

You have a budget of £250 to buy all the supplies you will need to prepare for a party at school (no cost for hire).

Use the internet to check prices of food, drink, decorations and one form of entertainment.List all the items you require for your party and total up all the costs. Make sure you don’t over spend!

You then need to decide what price you will charge for entry to your party so that you can make a profit. Careful that you don’t over charge so people are not put off buying a ticket.

Find 6 different items in your house – try to vary the size of the different items.

Estimate the length in cm and m and mass (weight) in grams and kilograms of each item. Write your estimation down. Then measure the length and weight your items. How close were your estimations?

Walk and Ride Problem

A group of 10 students are on a field trip when their bus breaks down 40 miles away from the school.

A teacher takes 5 of them back to school in her car, travelling at an average speed of 40 miles per hour.

The other 5 students start walking towards school at a steady 4 miles per hour.

The teacher drops the 5 at school, then immediately turns around and comes back for the others, again travelling at a steady speed of 40 miles per hour.
