It is called, rightly and properly, a work of justice. It is the product of order, the order implanted in human society by its divine founder, to be realised in practice as men hunger and thirst for ever more perfect justice. The common good of the human race is subject to the eternal law as its primary principle, but its re- quirements in practice keep changing with the pas- sage of time. The result is that peace is never estab- lished finally and for ever; the building up of peace has to go on all the time. Again, the human will is weak and wounded by sin; the search for peace therefore demands from each individual constant control of the passions, and from legitimate authority untiring vigilance. Even this is not enough. Peace here on earth can- not be maintained unless the good of the human person is safeguarded, and men are willing to trust each other and share their riches of spirit and talent. If peace is to be established it is absolutely neces- sary to have a firm determination to respect other persons and peoples and their dignity, and to be zealous in the practice of brotherhood. Peace is therefore the fruit also of love; love goes beyond what justice can achieve. Peace on earth, born of love for one’s neighbour, is the sign and the effect of the peace of Christ that flows from God the Father. In his own person the incarnate Son, the Prince of Peace, reconciled all men to God through his death on the cross. In his human nature he destroyed ha- tred and restored unity to all mankind in one people and one body. Raised on high by the resurrection, he sent the Spirit of love into the hearts of men. All Christians are thus urgently summoned to live the truth in love, and to join all true peacemakers in prayer and work for peace. Moved by the same spir- it, we cannot but praise those who renounce vio- lence in defence of rights, and have recourse to means of defence otherwise available to the less powerful as well, provided that this can be done without injury to the rights and obligations of others or of the community. Constitution: "Gaudium et spes" - Second Vatican Council todays Reflection / Inspiration The Morning Offering and Intentions for November 2016: God, our Father, I offer you my day. May the Holy Spirit, who guided Jesus, be my guide and strength today so that I may witness to your love. With Mary, the Mother of the Lord and of the Church, I pray especially for this month’s intentions as proposed by the Holy Father: Universal: That the countries which take in a great number of displaced persons and refugees may find support for their efforts which show solidarity. Evangelisation: That within parishes, priests and lay people may collaborate in service to the community without giving in to the temptation of discouragement.

November – Month of Prayers for the Departed

Parishioners are advised to bring the offertory with the names of their beloved departed in order to be prayed for them during the Mass, as the

Bible encourages us in the 2nd Book of Macca-bees: „Judas Maccabeus took up a collec-tion... which he sent to Jerusalem... to make atonement for the dead that they might be freed from their sins” (cf. 2 Mc 12:38-46). SCC/Lay Groups/Movements are encouraged to arrange the Masses for their departed members during the month of November; please see the Priests during the week in the Priests’ Office.

Note of Thanks Mrs Margaret Mufana & Family would like to express their heartfelt grati-

tude for the moral & spiritual support rendered during the illness & subse-quent demise of Mr Bill Mufana. Special thanks to: - The Parish Priest, Father Christopher Mróz; The Assistant Parish Priest, Father Mabvuto. - All Parishioners (including those from St Joseph Mukasa and St Anthony Parishes); - St Augustine SCC; - The Choirs; - Lay Organisations

GOD BLESS YOU ALL! Mrs Margaret Mufana & Family

OVER 350 PEOPLE ATTEND SAINT JOHN PAUL II FEAST

Over three hundred and fifty (350) parishioners from St Joseph, Kanyama and Christ the Redeemer parishes on Saturday October 23, 2016 converged at St John Paul II Plot to commemorate the Feast of St John Paul II. Out of the above stated number, it was noticed that the majority came from St Joseph Parish, Kanyama as most parishioners from Christ the Redeemer Parish were conspicuously missing from this important event. This development surprised many worshippers that attended the event. Mass which began at exactly 10.00 hours was presided over by the Par-ish Priest Fr Krzysztof Mróz who was wearing a jolly face.

And delivering his homily, Fr Mróz said people should emulate the works of St John Paul II who used to pray every day. The Parish Priest informed the congregation that St John Paul II was a member of Legion of Mary Lay group. He dispelled talks by some men at the parish that Legion of Mary Lay group was meant for women only. The Parish Priest said both men and women had been joining Legion of Mary Lay organization since its establishment in early 1900. Fr Mróz said St John Paul II used to pray the Novena to the Holy Spirit every day, hence the need for the congregants to take a leaf from him (St John Paul II). He went on

to say that St John Paul II is a Patron Saint for the families. Fr Mróz caused laughter when liken Mr Chipeta’s moustache to that of St John Paul II. He informed the congregants about the relics (leftovers) of St John Paul II which he said were at the parish and would be introduced to the parishioners on Sun-day October 23, 2016, during Confirmation Mass.

On the reiterated suggestions by most members from various SCCs from St John Paul II Church area to be holding Mass on Sundays at the plot, the Parish Priest said people in the area were the Church themselves and to have a Church building at the site required hard work and coopera-tion amongst themselves. Fr Mróz, however, said he was more than ready to conduct Mass at the Church plot as long as people within the area were ready to provide a shelter where they could congregate and pray. He appealed to the leadership to work out the plan and inform him (Fr Mróz) the out-come. Prior to the Mass, Brig Gen Harrison Phiri, the Parish Council Chairperson invited the priest to conduct the Mass

and urged participants to listen attentively to the proceedings of the day.

The event was made flamboyant by the choir led by St Nicholas SCC Choir from St Joseph Parish, Kanyama.

FUNERAL NOTICE MS SOBONGILE HLAZO, of St Paul

SCC died in a car crash on Saturday, October 23, 2016. Ms Hlazo died at the age of 24 years and was put to rest on Tuesday October 25, 2016. Her burial was preceded by a Church service at Anglican Ca-thedral. The vigil Mass in her honour was on Mon-day October 24, 2016 at her parents’ home, at the Chilaos’ Farm.

In a related development, MR RICHARD CHAPEWA, husband of Mrs Patronella Chape-wa of St Lucia SCC passed on, on Wednesday Oc-tober 26, 2016 at University Teaching Hospital (UTH) after an illness. The late Mr Chapewa was a member of one of the Pentecostal Churches.

The Assistant Parish Priest Fr Mabvuto, in the company of some St Lucia SCC Executive members

visited the late Mr Chapewa on Monday evening, October 24, 2016. Fr Mabvuto worked tirelessly to make sure that the late Mr Chapewa received some Sacraments, and it was arranged that this could be done on Wednesday evening, October 26, 2016. Unfortunately Mr Chapewa died on the same Wednesday at 16.00hrs. Funeral gathering was in Linda Township and burial took place on Saturday, October 29, 2016. The late Mr Chapewa is survived by his wife Mrs P. Chapewa and three children.

The other sad news reached the Parish on Friday night abot the death of MRS ELIZABETH KAEMBA, of St Paul SCC, who died after a long illness.
