and EASTER

If somebody special gives you a gift, even if it’s something ordinary, you set it apart as something special. The word HOLYmeans “to set apart.”

HOLY WEEK

Throughout the year, we keep Sundays holy—a day “set apart” for God.

How do we set apart this day for God?

HOLY WEEK

We are getting ready to set apart an entire week for God!

Holy Week is a time “set apart” from the rest of the calendar so that we might recall the suffering, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

EVENING MASS of the LORD’S SUPPER

We should glory in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, for he is our salvation, our life and Resurrection. Through him we are saved and made free.

(Entrance Antiphon)

On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn of both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the LORD.

The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.

(from Exodus 12:1–8, 11–14)

EVENING MASS of the LORD’S SUPPER

For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

—1 Corinthians 11:23–26
