Dear Friends in Christ,
November is a time when we traditionally
remember those who have died. As Catholic
Christians, we don’t believe that death has the
final word. On November 1 we celebrated the
great feast of All Saints. It is a reminder that we
are encouraged by a great cloud of witnesses who
are both in heaven and with us as we grow in our
own discipleship. They remind us that we are not
alone in following Jesus, that we have our saints
and each other in the community of love that we
are called to create through Jesus. All Souls is
celebrated on November 2. We will celebrate that
day in a particular way with a Mass this Thursday
November 14 at 7 pm when we will remember
those who have gone before us, especially those
who have died in the last year.
I will end with an All Souls poem composed by
Wendell Berry.
I tremble with gratitude for my children and
their children who take pleasure in one
another. At our dinners together, the dead
enter and pass among us in living love and
in memory. And so the young are taught.
Much Love,
LECTOR WORKBOOKS The Lector Workbooks for Year A are now
available in the sacristy for our Ministers of the
Word. These workbooks begin with Advent,
December 1. Your name is on the workbook.
Please pick yours up. Thank you for your ministry.
HUNTER’S BLESSING There will be a special blessing for all hunters at
each Mass the weekend of November 9 & 10.,
Join our parish as we pray for all hunters as they
prepare for opening day. May they have a safe
and successful harvest.
A PRAYER FOR VETERANS Monday, November 11 is Veterans Day. Holy
Trinity Parish would like to take this opportunity to
honor and congratulate all veterans, deceased,
retired or active for their military service.
Heavenly Father, King and Lord, You instill
in all of Your creation an order and value.
You call Your children "very good." We
surrender to You the conflicts that tear your
family apart.
We pray for an end to blindness that places pride,
greed, power, and selfishness above human dignity
and brotherly love.
We pray in gratitude for all of those who have
defended peace, virtue, and justice with honor.
We pray especially for those who have suffered in
mind and body from the ravages of war.
Let Your Kingdom come! May Your peace that
surpasses all understanding reign in our hearts and
in our world.
Amen
