BOARD OF TRUSTEES By: David Sarabian
We hope that you are having a great summer despite the hot weather that came
upon us so suddenly; however, summer is flying by, and school is right around
the corner, so enjoy, relax, and do fun and exiting things.
Speaking of fun, we have an exciting August with our Moonlight Honky Tonk
and Annual Grape Blessing. These two events are major fundraisers for our
church and will be events you will love to attend. Everyone can help by
attending and, by all means, tell your friends and neighbors about these events so
they can also join in on the fun.
Sunday school reconvenes in September, and we are excited about changes that
are coming. We are implementing a new curriculum that the kids will love.
Also, we are looking for enthusiastic teachers to help with the program.
Compensation will be offered for teachers this year; if interested, contact
Jasmina Kalanjian or the church office. The foundation for our youth is based on
biblical education at a young age. We are doing our part to enhance our
curriculum, but parents it’s up to YOU to make sure your children attend Sunday
school to receive the proper education.
I am happy to tell you that Hayr Dajad and the Youth Group members arrived
safely in Armenia and have already embarked on doing the mission work
planned. They will be back by August 3; we wish them safe return.
The annual Vacation Bible School is underway. Many wonderful activities and
Bible teachings are being taught. We thank Jasmina and her crew for
spearheading this event year-after-year and making it such a positive experience
for our children.
You are all encouraged to come and attend church as well as the many activities
our aid organizations plan. See you Soon.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION COMMITTEE By: Arakel Arisian
“Abba, Father, everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not
what I will, but what you will.” Jesus – Mark 14:36
What does it mean to submit to the will of God? It is easy to focus on our
worldly desires and selfish ambitions, but it is difficult to actively pursue the
will of God. The only way we can align our lives with God’s will is with the
help of the Holy Spirit. The Apostle Paul explains, “Do not be conformed to
this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you
may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect
(Romans 12:2 – ESV).” The Holy Spirit allows us to renew our mind and be
transformed into a new person. We are then able to figure out (“discern”)
God’s will for our lives. Although the Bible describes God’s will for us in
many ways, we will not be able to fully understand and put what we learn into
practice until we are made new in Christ.
The practical application for daily living is described in the Life Application
Study Bible, “You may not face execution for your faith, but you probably face
many problems that wear you down. You deal with irritating people whom you
must love and serve; you face the burden of unfinished tasks or lack of obvious
results; you cope with helpers who let you down or fail to compre-
hend. Remember that in times of great stress, you are vulnerable to temptation,
even if you have a willing spirit. Jesus explained how to resist: (1) Keep watch
– stay awake and be morally vigilant, (2) Pray to God – this is how you
maintain your vigilance, (3) Seek support of friends and loved ones – this is
how you build up your resistance and help others; when one is weak, others are
strong, (4) Focus on the purpose God has given you – this is how you do God’s
will and not your own.”
Jesus demonstrated for us how to put our own needs and wants second to God’s
will. He accepted God’s plan knowing full well that God will provide. In order
to fully surrender control to God, we must have faith in His power and promise
to deliver us. In Jeremiah 29:11, we read God’s words to the people of Judah,
“For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.” And because God can do anything, we
can trust in His promises. Proverbs 19:21 points out, “Many are the plans in a
person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” That is why in the
Lord’s Prayer we say, “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is
in Heaven.” This week, let us pray as King David did in Psalm 143:10, “Teach
me to do your will, for you are my God; may you, good Spirit, lead me on level
ground.”
Have a blessed month!

UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN by Injete Chesoni
Death is a brief separation
A temporary pain
Grieve not my dear
The sun will shine again
Death separates our bodies
But our hearts remain the same
And the memories of our love
Will soothe away your pain
And carry you over
Until we meet again.

Ladies’ Guild and Bazaar News By: Barbara Mortanian
Two road trips, a kufta day and a book club movie in July, gave our ladies
opportunities to escape Fresno’s summer heat, prep for the bazaar and dig
deeper into our last novel in a visual way. Thank you Evelyn Hamamjian for
organizing the fun getaways for us to enjoy, to Beverlee Bargamian for her
kufta leadership and Sophie Mekhitarian for all the research and prep she does
for our book club.
Summer is definitely here, which at Holy Trinity Church means we have
already begun serious preparation for the 69th Annual Food Bazaar and the
106th Grape Blessing Festival. These two fundraisers rely totally on our
incredible church volunteers – This means you! There are several volunteer
opportunities for you to get involved with before and during the event.
Throughout the summer, there will be various baking and other food
preparation dates scheduled; please say “yes” when you receive a phone call,
text or e-mail from one of the committee members. In volunteering, lifelong
friendship bonds are made at the BBQ pits, in the kitchen and on the serving
lines. So don’t wait to add your name to the volunteer list. Please do so by
contacting Diana Shirin in the church office (559-486-1141). These events that
we all enjoy attending don’t just happen; they require lots of man and woman
power to carry out, so please consider being one of the many needed
volunteers that work together in fellowship and fun.
You answered our call. We do have plenty of the wide mouth Mason jars for
this year’s tourshi, but we can still use donations of small (8 oz) jam and jelly
jars. Please continue to bring them to church for our upcoming canning and
pickling.
Lucille Gahvejian welcomes your gently used, saleable treasures for her
popular Treasure Cove. Among the items she wishes are household and
decorator items, glassware, ceramics, pottery, vases, china, serving pieces,
silver, decorative pillows, statues, jewelry, vintage clothing, pictures, books,
handmade items, and tasteful souvenirs from travels. Ask your relatives and
friends to help out by clearing out their tasteful clutter. All donations will be
discriminately selected so that all items are of similar quality. Call Lucille at
431-4534 for information and any questions you may have.
Both Luci’s Treasure Cove and the variety of vendors offering interesting
products will add a touch of novelty to the bazaar atmosphere and provide
you the opportunity to get a head start on Christmas and holiday shopping.
Start making your lists now. Credit card machines will be available for your
purchases of $25 or more.
11
Several ladies have been busy at home embroidering, crocheting and sewing
some unique items that will also be sold at the bazaar. Cottage goods are always
much-loved items and make great gifts.
Good news and many thanks to Gladys Peters and to Anna Da Silva for their
generous donations to the 2019 Bazaar Donation Chart (see below). The Bazaar
committee seeks your generosity by way of helping in this stress-free, non–
physical way. To date, 25 of the requested 249 units of financial sponsorship
have been received by the bazaar committee. These monetary gifts are of great
help to offset the many expenses. Please consider being involved in the Bazaar by
making a donation in this way. We request that your donations be sent to the
church with a note specifying where you would like your donations applied.
2019 Bazaar Donation Requests Items Number of Item Donations Still

your businesses, congratulate, honor or memorialize loved ones on the popular
placemats and posters that fill the social hall and will be looped on the two TV
monitors in the small social hall.
Following the 106th Grape Blessing Festival you will receive the Bazaar mailing
which includes tickets for a cash 50/50 raffle. One half of the collected funds will
be divided among 10 prize winners. Increase your chances of winning by buying
more tickets.
Now for the really good news….. Fulfilling the plan of our dear MaryAlice
Kaloostian, for dinner this year we are happy to offer a preset number of
lamb shank dinners for those who preorder and prepay by Sept. 27. More
exciting news….Mark Ohanesian & Friends will bring the evening to a close
with great music for listening and dancing from 7-10 pm. Weather permitting,
we may set this out in the courtyard. Gather your friends and families, preorder
your lamb shank meals and plan to stay late and enjoy the evening at HTAAC.

Treasures To Be Thankful For
A man was exploring caves by the seashore. In one of the caves he found a
canvas bag with a bunch of hardened clay balls. It was like someone had rolled
clay balls and left them out in the sun to bake. They didn't look like much, but
they intrigued the man, so he took the bag out of the cave with him. As he strolled
along the beach, he would throw the clay balls one at a time out into the ocean as
far as he could. He thought little about it, until he dropped one of the clay balls
and it cracked open on a rock. Inside was a beautiful, precious stone! Excited, the
man started breaking open the remaining clay balls. Each contained a similar
treasure. He found thousands of dollars worth of jewels in the twenty or so clay
balls he had left. Then it struck him. He had been on the beach a long time. He
had thrown maybe fifty or sixty of the clay balls with their hidden treasure into
the ocean waves. Instead of thousands of dollars in treasure, he could have taken
home tens of thousands, but he had just thrown it away!
It's like that with people. We look at someone, maybe even ourselves, and we
see the external clay vessel. It doesn't look like much from the outside. It isn't
always beautiful or sparkling, so we discount it. We see that person as less
important than someone more beautiful or stylish or well known or wealthy. But
we have not taken the time to find the treasure hidden inside that person. There is
a treasure in each and every one of us. If we take the time to get to know that
person, and if we ask God to show us that person the way He sees them, then the
clay begins to peel away and the brilliant gem begins to shine forth. May we not
come to the end of our lives and find out that we have thrown away a fortune in
friendships because the gems were hidden in bits of clay. May we see the people
in our world as God sees them.
