Eucharistic Minister Training If you are interested in taking part in the rewarding ministry of serving your fellow parishioners Holy Communion please attend training on Sunday, March 25 at 12:30pm in the church. This training can also serve as a refresher for current Eucharistic Ministers. If you have any questions contact Dave Langer at [email protected] Join us for the summit of the Liturgical Year: the Easter
Triduum, celebrated from the evening of Holy Thursday to the evening of Easter Sunday. Though chronologically three days, they are liturgically one day unfolding for us the unity of Christ's Paschal Mystery. The single celebration of the Triduum marks the end of Lent, and leads to the Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord at the Easter Vigil, 8 pm on Saturday, March 31. This year at St. Francis of Assisi, four adults will be baptized, three will be received into the full communion of the Catholic Church, and all will be confirmed and receive Eucharist for the first time. Catholics will also renew our baptismal vows at Mass.
All are invited to attend a reception following Mass in the parish hall. Come celebrate as we welcome our new Catholics and parish family members! Details at saintfrancischurch.org/adultfaith/events

Good Friday Collection Supports Christians in the
Holy Land
Christians around the world are united in a special way during Lent, Holy Week and Easter. Our hearts, minds and prayers are also especially aware of the Holy Land. Once a year on Good Friday, we are called on to support Christians in the Holy Land. Many Christians in the Holy Land depend on this collection for their lives. The annual Good Friday Collection offers a direct link for parishioners to be witnesses of peace and to help protect the Holy Places. When you donate on Good Friday, you are supporting Christians in the Holy Land. Franciscans and others in the Holy Land are house and feed the poor, provide religious formation and education, maintain shrines and parishes, and conduct pastoral ministry. For details, visit www.MyFranciscan.org/good-Friday
The Good Friday Collection is requested by the Holy Father. Please be as generous as your abundance allows. Envelopes are in your monthly tithing envelope packet.
Good Friday is an obligatory day of universal fast and abstinence. Fasting is obligatory for all who have completed their 18th year and have not yet reached their 60th year. Fasting allows a person to eat one full meal. Two smaller meals may be taken, not to equal one full meal. Abstinence (from meat) is obligatory for all who have reached their 14th year. If possible, the fast on Good Friday is continued until the Easter Vigil (on Holy Saturday night) as the "paschal fast" to honor the suffering and death of the Lord Jesus, and to prepare ourselves to share more fully and to celebrate more readily his Resurrection.
Note from Fr. Ray
Our Lenten journey has arrived at Palm Sunday and Holy Week. We begin the most solemn week of the Church year. The prayer, fasting, almsgiving and works of charity we have participated in the last five weeks all come to fruition this week. We acknowledge and celebrate our redemption and the forgiveness of our sins this week through the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and then celebrate his glorious Resurrection. The Church gives us some wonderful liturgies this week to celebrate Jesus’ gift to us. Holy Thursday we begin the Sacred Paschal Triduum as we celebrate the Mass of the Lord’s Supper; on Good Friday (the only day of the year when Mass is not celebrated) we celebrate the Passion of Lord; then on Holy Saturday we celebrate the Easter Vigil. The Easter Vigil will celebrate Jesus’ Resurrection and the return of the light to the world. You will notice that at the Vigil from now on the lights in the church will come on when the Paschal Candle reaches the sanctuary instead of at the singing of the Gloria. This is to remind us that once the Paschal Candle has reached the sanctuary that the light has returned. Our service times for Holy Week and Easter are: Holy Thursday 7pm; Good Friday 7pm; Holy Saturday Easter Vigil 8pm. Easter Sunday 6:30am; 8am; 10am and 12pm - Noon. Note these are different times from our normal Sunday due to there being an extra Mass. Message of Pope Francis for Lent: “During the Easter Vigil, we will celebrate once more the moving rite of the lighting of the Easter candle. Drawn from the ‘new fire’, this light will slowly overcome the darkness and illuminate the liturgical assembly. ‘May the light of Christ rising in glory dispel the darkness of our hearts and minds.’… By listening to God’s word and drawing nourishment from the table of the Eucharist, may our hearts be ever more ardent in faith, hope and love.”

ATTENTION: ADVERTISE ON THE BULLETIN!
During the week of April 9, John Kirchner, our parish representative from Liturgical Publications, Inc, will be working on our bulletin and contacting potential advertisers for the Preferred Business Directory pages. Please consider advertising on the bulletin since the revenue from the ads is what makes the bulletin possible at no cost to the St. Francis of Assisi. It’s also a great way to get your name in front of the families in the parish! Advertisements can be purchased for a family or a sponsorship ad for worthy organizations. However, this is especially suited for: 1)A business to promote what they do to a very loyal group of customers 2)An opportunity for us to connect our Parish families with trustworthy businesses that support the parish 3)While benefitting the parish at the same time. Please do give these ideas some thought. We need and appreciate your help! If you are interested or just curious to check it out, please call John Kirchner at the parish office that week or feel free to email him anytime at [email protected]
Thank you to over 25 students from EDGE,
FISH and parents who volunteered their time
to deep clean our church over Spring Break!
They spent several hours digging out the book
holders, washed and polished the pews and
lots more. Thank you again for serving your
parish family. We appreciate your kindness!
