But when we look around, all we see are happy couples who could never under- stand what we are experiencing. Or, there may be some issue (it may be criminal, or social, etc.) with our children (young or grown). This situation has broken our hearts! But as we look around, all we see are happy families, laughing children, and our depression deepens. As we take note of these circumstances, we may begin to say to ourselves, I dont belong here! I dont fit in with these people!!As bad as things are in our lives, our greater fear would be that others may learn about the things going on in our lives. The shame and embarrassment we fear would be more than we could bear! Well, have you ever wondered why God created church”? Why not simply save individuals and then let them singly live out their faith?! The reason for churchis that God knew we would need each other. We were never intended to live apart from other believers. This is one of the reasons why God often uses the illustration of His people functioning as a body, (read 1 Corinthians 12:12-27; Ephesians 1:22-23; 2:19-22; etc.). All of us have been where you are. Paul writes, No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man…,” 1 Corinthians 10:13. Peter says the same, “…knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world,1 Peter 5:9. Thus, many of us have already been through what you are experiencing. Ask someone whom you trust (elder, preacher, member) if they know of someone you could talk to about your concerns. Your silence is Satans best weapon! Those who can help know that God says, Bear one anothers burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ,Galatians 6:2. You are not alone. You are not a bad person! Weve been there – we get it! But for the rest who are reading this, we also have an important role to play. One of the best things we can do, is, Encourage one another day after day, as long as it is called, Today, lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin,Hebrews 3:13. God knew we would need each other. So He brought us together into His large family where we could all receive the love, help, and encouragement to keep going as we walk this narrow path together! Rick Walker Holy Spirit Indwelling In a previous bulletin article there were some things explained about the Holy Spirit. Things like how a person receives the Holy Spirit and that the Spirit is not an IT but a HE . Todays article will focus on the obligations imposed upon the recipient of the Spirit. It is a remarkable privilege to receive Gods Spirit in our lives. Such carries with it heavy responsibilities. Know you not that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? And you are not your own...glorify God in your body(1 Corinthians 6:19, 20). If any man destroyeth the temple of God him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, and such are you(1 Corinthians 3:17). Thus any habit or practice that would defile our body and soul must be cast aside, be it fornication, drug abuse, indulgence in intoxicating beverages, gluttony, tobacco or any like thing. We must walk by the Spirit, and...not fulfill the lust of the flesh(Galatians 5:16). By that, Paul means to order our lives by the Spirits instructions found in the Scripture. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus, (makes) me free from the law of sin and death(Romans 8:2). For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God(Romans 8:14). The Holy Spirit has given us the Bible to guide our path (2 Peter 1:20-21). Christians must put away all things in their lives that would grieve the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:25). In Ephesians 4:17-5:14 the apostle catalogs that ugly list of sins we must put away if we would please our heavenly Guest. At the same time we must fill the vacuum in our lives by bringing forth the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, self-control…” (Galatians 5:22-23). “I Don’t Fit in Here!”

Perhaps we have all had this feeling at church. We may have just had the worst week in our marriage. We then come to worship hoping to find comfort. But when we look around, all we see are happy couples who could never under-stand what we are experiencing. Or, there may be some issue (it may be criminal, or social, etc.) with our children (young or grown). This situation has broken our hearts! But as we look around, all we see are happy families, laughing children, and our depression deepens.

As we take note of these circumstances, we may begin to say to ourselves, “I don’t belong here! I don’t fit in with these people!!” As bad as things are in our lives, our greater fear would be that others may learn about the things going on in our lives. The shame and embarrassment we fear would be more than we could bear!

Well, have you ever wondered why God created “church”? Why not simply save individuals and then let them singly live out their faith?! The reason for “church” is that God knew we would need each other. We were never intended to live apart from other believers. This is one of the reasons why God often uses the illustration of His people functioning as a body, (read 1 Corinthians 12:12-27; Ephesians 1:22-23; 2:19-22; etc.).

All of us have been where you are. Paul writes, “No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man…,” 1 Corinthians 10:13. Peter says the same, “…knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world,” 1 Peter 5:9. Holy Spirit Indwelling

In a previous bulletin article there were some things explained about the Holy Spirit. Things like how a person receives the Holy Spirit and that the Spirit is not an IT but a HE.

Today’s article will focus on the obligations imposed upon the recipient of the Spirit.

It is a remarkable privilege to receive God’s Spirit in our lives. Such carries with it heavy responsibilities. “Know you not that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? And you are not your own...glorify God in your body” (1 Corinthians 6:19, 20). “If any man destroyeth the temple of God him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, and such are you” (1 Corinthians 3:17). Thus any habit or practice that would defile our body and soul must be cast aside, be it fornication, drug abuse, indulgence in intoxicating beverages, gluttony, tobacco or any like thing.

We must “walk by the Spirit, and...not fulfill the lust of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16). By that, Paul means to order our “lives by the Spirit’s instructions found in the Scripture. “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus, (makes) me free from the law of sin and death” (Romans 8:2). “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God” (Romans 8:14). The Holy Spir it has given us the Bible to guide our path (2 Peter 1:20-21).

Christians must put away all things in their lives that would grieve the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:25). In Ephesians 4:17-5:14 the apostle catalogs that ugly list of sins we must put away if we would please our heavenly Guest. At the same time we must fill the vacuum in our lives by bringing forth the fruit of the Spirit: “love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, self-control…” (Galatians 5:22-23).

Dear Church Family,

Thank you so much for your prayers and concerns

through our daughter’s (Vicki Malone) colon surgery. She

came through surgery in good spirits. The doctor removed

21 lymph nodes and 6 came back positive. She has to take

because she has been praying and she has a lot of people

praying for her. George and I are firm believers in prayer.

It means so much to us for you all to be praying for us.

Thanks Again. In Christian Love,
