Allah – One God

• Allah is the Arabic name for God used by Muslims of the world as well as Arab Christians.

• Say: He is God, the One and Only; God, the Eternal, Absolute; He begets not, nor is He begotten; And there is none like unto Him. (The Quran, Surah 112)

Prophet Muhammad• Descendant of Ishmael, the first son of Abraham.• Born in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, in the year 570 C.E. • Received first revelation at the age 40 through angel Gabriel. • Died in the year 632 C.E, after preaching Islam for 23 years.

• GEORGE BERNARD SHAW said about him: "He must be called the Saviour of Humanity. I believe that if a man like him were to

assume the dictatorship of the modern world, he would succeed in solving its problems in a way that would bring it much needed peace and happiness." (The Genuine Islam, Singapore, Vol. 1, No. 8, 1936)

Management By Values

• Quran and Modern ManagementThe Holy Quran says: [43:32] "...We raise some of them above others in ranks, so that some may command work from others..."This Ayah (43:32) encompasses the entire philosophy and wisdom of modern management. It emphasizes, in essence, the creation of appropriate hierarchies and the division of responsibilities subject to individual capabilities.

The Holy Quran has also laid down the institutional framework for putting this golden rule into practice:1.Obedience and Respect for Authority;2.Principles of Equal Opportunities; and3.Motivation and Commitment

• OBEDIENCE AND RESPECT FOR AUTHORITYObedience and respect for authority is the basic fundamental requisite for taking work from others and getting it done.

"Obey Allah and His Messenger and those in position of authority among you." [4:59] • JOINT CONSULTATION & TEAM WORK

The Holy Quran advocates for this concept: [42:83]"...and those who do their work through mutual Consultation"[3:159] "...pass over (their faults), and ask for (God's) forgiveness for them; and consult them in affairs (of moment). Then, when you have taken a decision put your trust in God, for God loves those who put their trust (in Him).“

How to apply these Values in day to day life ?

• It is very easy to apply these values in day to day life as the Quran says in [39:53]

Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah . Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.“

How to Eradicate Social Evils

• Social evils are the bad habits or activities that take root in the society andcause harm not only to the person who is involved in these activities but alsothe people who are related to him or live around him.

• The Holy Quran forbids all the social evils like alcoholism, murder, causing harms to others etc.

• "Fight in the cause of God those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for God does not love transgressors. (The Noble Quran, 2:190)“

• "Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy handhold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things. (The Noble Quran, 2:256)“

• "Say: 'Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger: but if ye turn away, he is only responsible for the duty placed on him and ye for that placed on you. If ye obey him, ye shall be on right guidance. The Messenger's duty is only to preach the clear (Message). (The Noble Quran, 24:54)"

Prohibition of Drinking & Gambling

• Drinking & gambling are institutionalised 5:92 Satan desires only to create enmity and hatred amongst you by means of wine and game of chance, and to keep you back from remembrance of Allah. So will you keep back?

• Problems of all ages & all parts of the world- Majority of gamblers lose- Money changes hands without turning the wheel of economy - Both effect not only the individual but the society- Effect on the family- Quickly the youth get involved- Crime is encouraged

• Islam creates a very opposite atmosphere: - to ponder over God’s way and social responsibility - facilitates development of a taste for goodness - once pleasure of God’s way is experienced, worldly pleasures seem too shallow- such society isn't devoid of pleasure, only change in terms of what is pleasurable

Page 12: Holy Quran

Present Status of Women as Compared to the Status in Scripture

• The more valuable and noble is the thing more it is safeguarded.• Islam gives full respect to women in every role of life.• Women is so respectful and noble in eye of Islam that only name of

women taken in Quran is of Maryam(Marry).• Quran is the only scripture which has a whole chapter for Women named

as Nisa.• Still in Islamic culture women are valuable ,respectful and loved ones.• The Holy Quran says

O ye who believe! Ye are forbidden to inherit women against their will. Nor should ye treat them with harshness, that ye may Take away part of the dower ye have given them,-except where they have been guilty of open lewdness; on the contrary live with them on a footing of kindness and equity. If ye take a dislike to them it may be that ye dislike a thing, and Allah brings about through it a great deal of good. (4:19)

Page 13: Holy Quran

How to manage conflicts

• People’s behaviour should be in accordance with- nature ie act of God- revealed scripture ie word of God - (recognition and acceptance of social responsibility)

• Drivers of behaviour should not be- pleasure - market forces- (selfish motive and escape from social responsibility)

Page 14: Holy Quran

How to manage conflicts 2

• Trust• Building of trust is crucial• Keeping promises

23:9-12 And those who are watchful of their trusts and their covenants, and those who are strict in observance of their prayers, these are the heirs, who will inherit paradise. They will abide therein forever.

4:136 O’ ye who believe, be strict in observing justice, be witnesses for Allah, even though it be against yourself or your parents or your kindred. Whether you bear witness against rich or poor, Allah is regardful of them both. Hence follow not low desires so you are able to act equitably. If you hide or evade the truth, then be assured that Allah is well aware of what you do.
