The flu season is here! Very often we forget how fragile some people’s immune system might be and that although we mean well, shaking each other’s hand while we are ill can very easily spread germs that can make others very sick. So, during the coming months, please do not feel uncomfortable about not shaking hands during the sign of peace at Mass. Just a simple, friendly wave is acceptable and could help to keep all of us healthy this winter. If you haven’t already done so, get your flu/pneumonia shot as soon as possible.
TAX LETTERS: If you need a letter confirming your 2018 donations to Holy Name, please call the rectory to request one at 914-949-2323 or email at [email protected].
In late 1989, Steven Covey wrote, “Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. It quickly became a number one best seller. This book was the result of observing effective. Successful people. In it, he noted that such people begin each day with the end in mind. In other words, they set important goals and then identified each step to reaching those goals. His observation included this major truth: We have the power to choose. And, we are responsible for our choices. It is interesting that we can turn our lives around at any age. We can begin at 17 or 107. History is full of examples of those who made successes out of their lives who began their trek to success after the age of 70. But it requires choosing a goal and then planning and carrying out each step toward the goal. Paul sets the goal that each person makes for his or her life. He said: “I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:14)
