2019 ANNUAL APPEAL The them e of the 2019 Ap-peal is “Our Faith. Our Hope. Our Mission.” and is much dif-ferent from a onetime special collection. It is a pledge cam-paign where you can make a gift, today, payable over ten months that will help support the ministries and mission of all our faith communities of the Church of Washington. Please find the Annual Appeal brochure and Frequently Asked Questions in your pew for your review. A gift to the Annual Appeal will touch the lives of thousands of people in a very positive way. As you review the work enabled by your contribution, please reflect on God’s gifts to you. Our com-bined gifts not only signify our gratitude to God, they glorify Him by enabling the work of our archdiocese and give Him thanks for all He has given us. This year, you can support the Annual Appeal many different ways. Many of you may have received a mailing in January that you can respond to. You can also support the Appeal online at adw.org or text “Give” to (301) 2311816. We will also be providing the opportunity to support the Appeal at Mass over the next couple of week-ends. As in every year, 100% of your contribution to the An-nual Appeal will be designated to the ministries and pro-grams supported by the Appeal. !Thank you for your prayerful consideration and generous response. !

**HOLY REDEEMER PARISIONERS SCAM ALERTIMPORTANT**Warning notice from Archdiocese. Over the past two weeks the Central Pastoral Admin Office has noted an increase in the “phishing” email and texting scams that have been sent to parishioners. Most recently fraudulent ef-forts have expanded to text messages on mobile de-vices. This is even more dangerous because those perpetrating this fraud can receive gift card codes via texted picture or message. Recently one parishioner received a ‘ghosted’ text message from Fr. Hughes and the recipient purchased a Google gift card for $500 and sent the code by mobile phone text. Noth-ing could be done to recoup these funds, i.e. the pa-rishioner’s money was lost. All parishioners are urged not to respond to text or email messages from Father relating to money. Unfortunately there is little that can be done to prevent or stop this type of fraud. If you or someone you know actually sends money or gift cards in response to these scams, please report to FTC.gov/giftcards stating cellphone was #ghosted and texting scam, and to Will Potter, ADW CIO at 301!853!4494 or [email protected].
