KOC Sub Sale

The Knights of Columbus will have their final Sub Sale of the Fraternal year after all masses the weekend of October 13th & 14th. Please remember that a portion of all proceeds are donated to the Holy Family Food Pantry. Enjoy our delicious subs while sup-porting our parish in helping those in need.

Fundraising at it’s best!! Yes! We are already planning our 2013 Family Fun Festival. In order to

help minimize Holy Family’s out-of-pocket expenses needed to plan and oper-

ate our annual festival, we will be scheduling a series of fundraisers

throughout the year. These events will not only raise funds, but promise to

be fun and entertaining. We hope everyone will help and participate in these events. All our pa-

rishioners, families and friends are all invited to our first kick off event; Monday, October 15th,

from 5:00-9:00 PM , take the family to dinner at Old Country Buffet, at 2942 Prince Wil-

liam Pkwy, Woodbridge, VA 22192 and we will receive 15% of all the proceeds.

We will keep you abreast of the proceeds. Our goal is ambitious, but we need your help to fund

festival and other events for the church. Additionally, we will alert you to upcoming events and

their purpose. If you are interested in helping us, have any ideas for fundraising or have any

questions, please contact the church office.

Twenty-Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time - 3 - October 7, 2012

Dear Parishioners…

"God loves a cheerful giver". We continue our stewardship program over the next few weeks. This weekend lay speakers will address you at all the masses to call for full participation in our initiative to increase our level of giving and to insure the participation of all in a weekly or monthly offertory commitment. There are three requests I will make; Read the letter and brochure you received in the mail. Consider your monthly gift prayerfully. Send in your commitment envelope indicating your pledge by Oct 13/14.

I am hopeful that all of our parishioners will develop the habit of giving through the regular use of the weekly offertory envelopes or though Faith Direct electronic giving.

Our Diocese celebrates two important aspects of our mission in October; Respect Life and the Year of Faith.

Let us renew ourselves in faith and generosity that we may grow in Christ's life and lead others to a deeper reverence for the gift of life.

May we continue to be a holy and a giving family,

Fr. Gerry

LITURGY AND MUSIC

Twenty-Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time - 5 - October 7, 2012

Thought for the Day “Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words.”

St. Francis of Assisi Francis of Assisi was a poor man who lived the gospel literally by actually following all that Je-sus said and did, joyfully, without limit, and without a sense of self-importance. Born into a wealthy family, as a young man, Francis had a dream where God told him to forget his wishes of fame and fortune and to return home. Francis eventually gave up all his possessions, includ-ing his clothes, to begin his life as a preacher. He founded a religious order, the Franciscans, whose members devoted themselves to prayer, preaching, and almsgiving to the poor. A well-known preacher, Francis was never a priest, and was ordained a deacon even though he pro-tested. Francis' final years were filled with suffering as well as humiliation. Praying to share in Christ's passion he had a vision and received the stigmata, the marks of the nails and the lance wound that Christ suffered, in his own body. He died at the age of 45 from an illness that had left him blind.

Dear Parishioners,

First of all, thank you for your participation in singing the hymns at our Saturday and Sunday Masses. It’s wonderful hearing you join our choirs in praising the Lord. In order to increase your participation and that of other members of the Holy Family community, we are in need of people. The children’s choir is in need of a leader and musician who will work with our children for the 10:30 am Mass on Sundays. For our youth choir, we have the musician but we need the youth!!! If you are interested in becoming part of the youth choir (a good way of completing your works of mercy hours needed for confirmation) please contact either Rayanne Gonzales or Kinter Bernard III. We have some great plans for this choir but need the singers. Finally, we are also looking for a bi-lingual pianist/organist to help us during the Saturday and Sunday Masses. If you are interested in helping us, please contact Rayanne.

Peace and Blessings! Rayanne and Deacon Joe

Estimados Feligreses….

Padre Gerardo
