This week we celebrate the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity throughout the world and locally in our county. There is an Annual Prayer Service for Christian Unity this year at the Christ Church in Amherst on Sunday, January 26th at 3:00 pm. The afternoon service is readings and music with participation by members of various Christian churches. An offering will be taken to support the Amherst Food Net-work’s local food bank. It is hosted by members of the Amherst Ministerial Association and is open to all Christians throughout Cumberland County, and is an opportunity to Praise and Worship our GOD as one body of His people. We encourage your participation. What a great way to start 2020 in Christian Unity, celebrating GOD.
Another way to get 2020 off to a great start is sharing in the wonderful milestone of turning 100. January 31st is a very exciting day for Bernadette Brown. It is not only her birthday but she has reached that milestone age that so few ever reach in life. She will be 100!! It’s not only a special day for Bernadette but also for Cumberland County residents to have a cente-narian living amongst them. Bernadette was born in Amherst and lived her entire life in the community. January 31st all are invited to come and help Bernadette and her family cele-brate this wonderful time at the Holy Family Church hall from 1:00—4:00pm where you will have the opportunity to visit with her and wish her all the best. The parishioners of All Saints Parish want to congratulate Bernadette (Momma Brown) on this wonderful milestone and for sharing her wisdom, faith and incredible sense of humor with all who get to spend a minute in her space. Happy Birthday 100th! You are truly amazing.
Lastly in the bulletin we hope you enjoy some of the wonderful things shared from the recent 125th Anniver-sary MASS and celebration in Joggins for St. Thomas Aquinas that happened on Christmas Eve. A lovely cele-bration and a wonderful turnout from many areas over the county, from those living afar and home for
Christmas. God is Good and we are Blessed! g

Be Scent-sitive!
There are parishioners that attend Mass and Lay Service
throughout the county, that are VERY allergic to SCENTS,
from all sources such as laundry sheets, detergent, per-
fumes, deodorant, sprays, lotions, etc.
This severe allergy, can cause weeks of sickness, severe
breathing issues and hospitalization.
Help Keep Our Place Safe For All Who Join Us!!
CHALICE FAMILY:
Holy Family Church sponsors our Chalice chil-dren, Tobias Rivas, in Paraguay and Kim-Gabriel Tamayo, Philippines. These children send notes, cards and pictures to share in their experiences and lives. Tobias and Kim-Gabriel sent beautiful Christmas Cards to our community and we have posted them on the YOUTH NEWS Board in the Gathering Area. Please read the beautiful notes and artwork from our children and pray for their health, family and education.
Dear Jesus, our All Saints Parish prays that the Australia wildfires are stopped and all emergency workers, firefighters, volun-
teers are kept strong and those affected by this tragedy, including the animals are safe, supported and surrounded by our LOVE.

LENTEN PREPARATION: PALMS
As shocking as it might feel, LENT is just
around the corner and so, we begin the
planning and preparations. We ask
that parishioners return old palms
from previous years, as they are turned into the ASHES
used for this years Ash Wednesday services. Ash Wednes-
day is on Feb. 26th this year. Each church should have a
location for these to be dropped into and can be dropped
into the Central Office, or given to the visiting priest to
bring with him on his return. Thank You!

All Saints Parish - FAMILY AND YOUTH NEWS
125th Anniversary Mass and Celebration: St Thomas Aquinas Church, Joggins: OUR FAMILY
There was a wonderful, “elegant” MASS and celebration on Christmas Eve in Joggins, 125 years after
the 1st MASS held in the basement of the church on Christmas Eve 1894. The 1st
MASS in the church followed on Passion Sunday 1895. The anniversary MASS was
shared with many families home for Christmas, as well as the large village communi-
ty of Catholics throughout River Hebert, Joggins and the county. Father Curry (later
Monsignor Curry) celebrated the 1st MASS and Father Phil Thibodeau was present
to celebrate this anniversary MASS. Over the years this community has welcomed a total of 42 priests that
have served the people of faith. A white rose for each of these priests was placed on two floral cross ar-
rangements placed at the Altar and each priests name were on the crosses as well, with prayers and grati-
tude for each of these priests guidance and a big thank you to Father Phil for his presence over the many years. The present
hand-painted canvas Stations of the Cross at St. Thomas Aquinas, were brought to the community from Italy, by Father Curry
and the blessed altar was built in Memramcook and then transported (in 1894 remember!!) to Joggins. The original total
cost of building this church was $6,000.00. Wonderful comments have been shared by parishioners about this celebration
used words, “absolutely beautiful”, “it was a joyous celebration”, “very touching and the decorations throughout the church
made it perfect”, “it was obvious that a lot of love, time and faith went into the entire celebration” and “the bells ringing
throughout the village on Christmas Eve again, really gave me such a sense of HOPE and JOY, and it felt like it was ringing
that out to the everyone—we are alive!” The people of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Joggins would like to thank all those
who were involved with the MASS and/or attended. With the
help of parishioners , and the All Saints Parish of Cumberland we
pray that there will be many more future celebrations as special
as this one was. A special thank-you to Richard Belliveau for his
extra special touches to prepare for this celebration. God is Good!!
