The Post Communion Prayer O brother Jesus, we have been guests at your table; come with us wherever we go, and be present in all we share. Summon out in us, whom you have fed, generosity of spirit, to ensure that all the hungry are nourished and earths barren places are fertile with food, faith, hope and love. Amen. The Blessing May the blessing of the God of Abraham, Sarah, and Hagar, and of Jesus Christ born of our sister Mary, and of the Holy Spirit, who broods over the world as a mother over her chil-dren, be upon you and remain with you always. Amen.

We Proclaim and Respond to the Word of God

Opening Acclamation Blessed be the one, holy, and living God. Glory to God for ever and ever. Gathering Prayer from the 77th General Convention of the Episcopal Church

Creator, we give you thanks for all you are and all you bring to us for our visit within your creation. In Jesus, you place the Gospel in the center of this sacred circle through which all of creation is related. You show us the way to live a generous and compassionate life. Give us your strength to live together with respect and commitment as we grow in your spirit, for you are God, now and forever. Amen. Hymn of Praise Cantad al Seor Brazilian folk song Translated Gerhard M. Cartfor (b.1923)

The Collect of the Day God of unchangeable power, when you fashioned the world the morning stars sang together and the host of heaven shouted for joy; open our eyes to the wonders of creation and teach us to use all things for good, to the honor of your glorious name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (source: A New Zealand Prayer Book, p. 569)

    13

As supper was ending, Jesus took the cup of wine, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said: Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is poured out for you and for all for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.

Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith:

Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.

Remembering his death and resurrection, we now present to you from your creation this bread and this wine. By your Holy Spirit may they be for us the Body and Blood of our Sav-ior Jesus Christ. Grant that we who share these gifts may be filled with the Holy Spirit and live as Christs Body in the world.

Bring us into the everlasting heritage of your daughters and sons, that with Blessed Mary, Blessed Alban, and all your saints, past, present, and yet to come, we may praise your Name for ever. Through Christ and with Christ and in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, to you be honor, glory, and praise, for ever and ever. AMEN.

And now as our Savior Christ has taught us, we reverently pray Our Father, in heaven, hallowed be your Name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen.

We Break the Bread Alleluia. Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us. Therefore let us keep the feast. Alleluia.

We Share the Gifts of God As you receive the bread and wine it is proper to say amen, which means so be it.

Gluten-free wafers are available. Just receiving the bread is a valid communion.

Holy, Holy, Holy James MacMillan, St. Annes Mass

Blessed are you, gracious God, creator of the universe and giver of life. You formed us in your own image and called us to dwell in your infinite love. You gave the world into our care that we might be your faithful stewards and show forth your bountiful grace. But we failed to honor your image in one another and in ourselves; we would not see your goodness in the world around us; and so we violated your crea-tion, abused one another, and rejected your love.

Yet you never ceased to care for us, and prepared the way of salvation for all people. Through Abraham and Sarah you called us into covenant with you. You delivered us from slavery, sustained us in the wilderness, and raised up prophets to renew your promise of salvation.

Then, in the fullness of time, you sent your eternal Word, made mortal flesh in Jesus. Born into the human family, and dwelling among us, he revealed your glory. Giving himself freely to death on the cross, he triumphed over evil, opening the way of freedom and life.

On the night before he died for us, Our Savior Jesus Christ took bread, and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his friends, and said: Take, eat: This is my Body which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.

A Reading from the Book of Genesis 37:1-4, 12-28

Joseph could no longer control himself be-fore all those who stood by him, and he cried out, "Send everyone away from me." So no one stayed with him when Joseph made himself known to his brothers. And he wept so loudly that the Egyptians heard it, and the household of Pharaoh heard it. Joseph said to his brothers, "I am Joseph. Is my father still alive?" But his brothers could not answer him, so dismayed were they at his presence. Then Joseph said to his brothers, "Come closer to me." And they came closer. He said, "I am your brother, Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt. And now do not be dis-tressed, or angry with yourselves, because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life. For the famine has been in the land these two years; and there are five more years in which there will be neither plowing nor harvest. God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant on earth, and to keep alive for you many survivors. So it was not you who sent me here, but God; he has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house and ruler over all the land of Egypt. Hurry and go up to my father and say to him, `Thus says your son Joseph, God has made me lord of all Egypt; come down to me, do not delay.

You shall settle in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near me, you and your children and your children's children, as well as your flocks, your herds, and all that you have. I will provide for you there-- since there are five more years of famine to come-- so that you and your household, and all that you have, will not come to poverty.' And now your eyes and the eyes of my brother Benjamin see that it is my own mouth that speaks to you. You must tell my father how greatly I am honored in Egypt, and all that you have seen. Hurry and bring my father down here." Then he fell upon his brother Benjamin's neck and wept, while Benjamin wept upon his neck. And he kissed all his brothers and wept upon them; and after that his brothers talked with him. For the Word of God in Scripture. For the Word of God among us, For the Word of God within in us, We give you thanks O God.

Psalm 133 (paraphrased Ruth Duck, b. 1947; Music: Dove of Peace, from Southern Harmony)

A Reading from Pauls Letter to the Romans 11:1-2a, 29-32

I ask, then, has God rejected his people? By no means! I myself am an Israelite, a de-scendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin.

God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew. For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

Just as you were once disobedient to God but have now received mercy because of their disobedience, so they have now been

disobedient in order that, by the mercy shown to you, they too may now receive mercy. For God has imprisoned all in disobedience so that he may be merciful to all. For the Word of God in Scripture, For the Word of God among us,. For the Word of God within us, We give you thanks O God.

We Make Eucharist The Great Thankgiving: Eucharistic Prayer 1from Enriching Our Worship, The Epis-copal Church

The Lord be with you. And also with you.

Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give God thanks and praise.

It is truly right, and good and joyful, to give you thanks, all-holy God, source of life and fountain of mercy. You have filled us and all creation with your blessing and fed us with your constant love; you have redeemed us in Jesus Christ and knit us into one body.

Through your Spirit you replenish us and call us to fullness of life. Therefore, joining with Angels and Archangels and with the faithful of every generation, we lift our voices with all creation as we sing

    The Confession and Absolution

Let us confess our sins against God and our neighbor

God of mercy, for the plans we have made without regard for you, for the harm we have caused our sisters and brothers, for admitting our weakness and sin only when it becomes our only choice, we are sorry. We have acted for reasons other than love of you and love of neighbor. Forgive us, we pray, and kindle in us the desire to love others as we love ourselves. Amen

Celebrant Almighty God have mercy on you, forgive you all your sins through our Lord Je-sus Christ, strengthen you in all goodness and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep you in eternal life, and may you be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgives you. Amen. We Exchange the Peace The Peace of the Lord be always with you. And also with you.

We Prepare the Table The bread and wine are placed on the altar. Offertory Prayer Loving God, we bring bread to Christs table, made by many peoples work from an unjust world where some have plenty and most go hungry. At this table, all are fed and no-one turned away. We bring wine, made by many peoples work from an unjust world where some have leisure and most struggle to survive. At this table, all share the cup of pain and celebration and no-one is denied. These gifts shall be for us the body and blood of Christ, our witness against hunger, our cry against injustice, And our hope for a world where God is fully known and every child is fed.

    SPECIAL PRAYERS

We invite those wishing particular prayer for themselves or on behalf of someone else to come to the front of the line to receive the bread and wine. Immediately after receiving, go to the prayer station located in the alcove of the Chapel. Give your first name and in a low voice, briefly state your prayer need. The person from the prayer team will lay hands on your shoulders and after a short silence, in awareness of Gods presence, they will pray quietly for you.

The Holy Gospel The Holy Gospel of our Savior Jesus Christ According to Matthew 15:21-28 Glory to you Lord Christ

The Sermon The Rev. Gigi Conner We Affirm Our Faith Together The Creed, prayer of affirmation is from Enriching Our WorshipThe Episcopal Churchand is closer to the original translation of the Nicene Creed from the Greek.

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, be-gotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen

Jesus left Gennesaret and went away to the district of Tyre and Sidon. Just then a Canaanite woman from that region came out and started shouting, "Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is tormented by a demon." But he did not answer her at all. And his disciples came and urged him, say-ing, "Send her away, for she keeps shouting after us." He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."

But she came and knelt before him, saying, "Lord, help me." He answered, "It is not fair to take the children's food and throw it to the dogs." She said, "Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table." Then Jesus answered her, "Woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you wish." And her daughter was healed in-stantly. The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Christ.

    9

We Pray for the Church and the World Triune God, we lift up to you a world in need of healing: where borders are drawn to keep some people in and some people out, where some people have less opportunity than others, or less food than others, or less time than others. Grant us compassionate hearts that we may work wonders beyond our imagi-nation. As your daughters and sons, we lift up our families: where siblings do not get along, parents do not get along, or factions within our country who do not get along, Grant unity and bless all householdsespecially the household of this country -with an appreciation of your grace and an awareness of your purpose. God in whose love we are made, When bread is before us Remind us of the hungry. When our key is in our door Remind us of those who have no home. When we enjoy the opportunities of money in our pockets Remind us of those who only know poverty. When the laughter of friendship fills our hearing Remind us of those who know only loneliness. When the love of our family keeps us safe Remind us of those whose family was the place of their pain. When we feel safe in homes and in our land Remind us of those who live in the midst of the injustice of war. When we pray for those who died in the service of this country this past week in Afghani-stan: Remind us that there are many people from many lands, their names unknown to us, who have also died in the hope of freedom and peace. When we wonder what it is we can do, Remind us that you said: Whenever you feed the hungry, clothes the naked, welcome the stranger, visit the prisoner, you do it to me. May prayer feed our actions and may our actions feed the world. Amen.
