Message from Pastor Carol
Merry Christmas! Are you wondering if you are reading the rightnewsletter? We are into the celebrations of theNew Year and Christmas has been a done dealever since the packages were opened and thefamily dinner dishes cleared. As weird as it mayseem, it is still the season of Christmas. Thetwelve days following Christmas actuallycomprise the season of Christmas. I personallythink it is important for all Christians toremember the gift of the manger as we consider
the beginning of another year in our lives. What does it meanfor us to embrace the hope, peace, joy and love brought to bearthrough birth of God into our world? I ask that as you make New Year's resolutions for 2016 that youallow each of these to inform the new life you embrace. Havinga thinner waist is good but what about having a heart filled withhope even in the hard times, or a lifestyle of peace that leads tonew relationships, or a spirit rooted in joy no matter yourcircumstances, or love even when expectations are not met? This is my wish for each of you...a year filled with the power ofthe manger bringing hope, peace, joy and love to bear in you. Blessings,Pastor Carol

for youth and children who stay forSunday afternoon programming as wellas any parents or others that want tojoin us. We will ask that parents ofparticipating youth and children rotateproviding a snack lunch, but others arefree to bring their own lunch and join us.At 12:45pm youth will go to their UMYtime for lesson and recreation andchildren will go to children's choir.Children's choir will end at 1:30pm. Youth will end their UMYtime at 2:15pm, which is when youth music time will start. Soyouth can leave at 2:15pm or stay for music and leave at3:15pm. We are making these changes for several reasons. It is our hopethat moving the programming for children and youth to theafternoon will leave the evening for family time. We also hopethis simplifies the schedule and juggling of activities that yourfamilies face. By following worship and having some timefor youth and children to interact, we hope to strengthen ties forall the greater church body beyond just ones' own age group. Nochange comes without some cost, and we know that this isn'tideal for everyone but we have heard from enough people that itdoes seem like it will be a positive change for the majority ofour members. January 17th is a holiday weekend so we will not have our newnormal schedule of events. Youth and Children's music will notmeet nor will Covenant Café. The youth will go and dosomething fun that day. I am working on the details of that rightnow. I will email, text and post that information on the yellowboard that says YOUTH NEWS outside of the youth room. If youdo not receive emails or texts from me and you would like to,please email me your contact info at [email protected].
