Assisted Suicide: Unnecessary, Flawed & Dangerous
Assisted suicide continues to be in the forefront of legis-lative issues being considered in Albany. Some claim it is simply “medical assistance in dying” and not suicide. But
what is really at stake here?
Join us as we host Educational Events throughout the Archdiocese to learn the facts.

SPIRITUAL ADOPTION PROGRAM
MONTH 2
Keep praying for me! I am two months old now and about 2 inches long. Look! You can see my eyes, nose and mouth. I will use them to experience God’s world after I am born.
A Reminder
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion. Prayer of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Please remember to pray daily for your Spiritual Adopted Baby and the baby’s mother and father. During your earthly life this spiritually adopted child of yours will be known only to God but in the world to come it is hoped that you will meet the child whose life was spared by your prayers and spend eternal happiness with them.

APRIL 17, 2016
Fifty / Fifty
We are a mere month away from 17 May, the 50th anniversary of the founding of this parish.
As you know, we have sustained monthly celebrations the year long in salute of our Golden Jubilee.
The last of these will be the Dinner Dance at the Historic Old Bermuda Inn on the evening of Saturday 14 May followed up by a Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday 15 May. It is indeed remarkable that this year Pentecost Sunday falls on the 15th. What better day to honor the birthday of Holy Child Church than on that Solemnity which is regarded as “The Birthday of the Church”?
As we know, the 50 days of Easter, which opened with the Great Vigil on Easter Weekend, conclude with Pentecost Sunday. We can confidently anticipate a continuation of the great performance our liturgical ministers rendered so marvelously on Easter Weekend (and during the Sacred Triduum – Holy Thursday / Good Friday / East-er Vigil ) come the festive day of Holy Child’s 50th Anniversary, coinciding happily this year with Pentecost. Year round our ministers ensure the dignified execution of worship on the weekly Day of the Lord. Come the High Holy Days or special celebrations, they amplify the quality of their performance through thor-ough preparations - preparations that they are currently engaged in for the jubilee itself. As they rise to any special occasion, we take the occasion to rise and express our gratitude for their ser-vice. The Usher Ministers greet and guide the congregation with discretion. The Readers clearly deliver The Word of God to his people. The Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Com-munion reverently administer the Blessed Sacrament to communicants during the course of the Eucha-rist. The Servers assist the priest at the altar so that all is in place for the sacrifice. The Sacristy Division makes sure that all liturgical appurtenances are in readiness in the setting it helps to decorate. From be-ginning to end The Choir and Cantors support congregational participation in song as well as presenting choral set pieces that stir the soul. The head of The Music Department, who is also Principal Organist, is responsible for the overall sound design which is unfailingly uplifting, always ringing as true as The Bell Choir itself. Our Hospitality Committee always sees to it that the Forum is well set with the refreshments that are offered on special occasions. Holy Child has developed a service tradition in worship from its inception right up to now where its es-teemed forces are constantly deployed to the Glory of God and the Good of His Holy (Child) Church.
Sic semper ut sit !
Father Travers
