INVITE SOMEONE BACK TO CHURCH!!

DEAR PARISHIONERS:

Now is a time for thanksgiv-ing, challenge, prayer, & nour-ishment. This is the weekend we celebrate the Solemnity of the Body & Blood of Christ. What a wonderful time to give praise to God for the presence of His Son Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament of His Body & Blood. What a great privilege we have as Catholics to receive THE BODY & THE BLOOD OF CHRIST. We, in our sinfulness, are able to receive the sinless Christ in the sacrament of the Eucharist. This feast is one of thanksgiving. Our hearts are to be overflowing with gratitude to God for this precious & awesome gift we are given. We are to thank God every day for the Body & Blood of Christ. A simple, yet pow-erful, “thank you” each weekend should be uttered by us in addition to the “Amen” we say when we partake of the Lord in Holy Communion. This feast is one of challenge. We are to receive the Body & Blood of Christ so that we can be the Body & Blood of Christ for the waiting world. As St. Paul says: “You are the body of Christ.” We are Christ’s body---wow! And we are challenged to have that communion with others by sharing the Communion we receive & celebrate. This feast is one of prayer. At Eucharist, the greatest prayer of the Church, we celebrate that the Lord Jesus poured out His Blood for us. We celebrate that the Body of Christ was broken for us as He hung upon the cross. We are to pray the Eucharist when we gather. The fruits of the Mass are to be extended to all those we meet. Our prayer of Eucharist is to fortify our relationship with Je-sus. And our prayer is to be nurtured & cared for during the week. This feast is one of nourishment. We are fed with the Body & Blood of Christ. We are filled with the spiritual food we need to exist as followers of the Lord. We are to give others to drink of Christ by quenching their thirst for justice, love, & peace. May our “Amens” ring out each & every time we are gifted with the Body & Blood of Christ. YOUR PASTOR, FATHER JOE P.S. As pastor I want to congratulate Father Braden on his priestly ordination. Our diocese will be enriched through his priesthood. I thank him for his ministry to us during the past year. May the Lord bless him as he be-gins to be a priest in our diocese, & may the Lord fill him with compassion, love, & mercy as he begins his assign-ment on July 1st at the Cathedral in Springfield. We at HF love you, FATHER BRADEN!!!

PRAY FOR OUR SICK:

SICK LIST POLICY: Names that are submitted will be removed after 4 weeks unless resubmitted. The new names added each week will be in BOLD for that one week, so that it will be easier to know a new name.

YEAR OF MERCY REFLECTION FOR May 28/29 No one should be hungry. Start with 5000 hungry men; continue with untold numbers of women and children. Add a boy with only five small loaves and two sardines. Mix in Jesus with his blessing and his praying. Organize the ministers and the crowd for the meal. Eat. Gather up twelve baskets of left-overs. Now there is a Mercy Year recipe!

• How can I feed the hungry this week, this

month?

• What can I gather up so nothing is wasted?

• How can I honor Christ present as Body and

Blood?
