PUPIL NEWS.. .

Interview with Miss Godman, by Rafa K

What is the most enjoyable part of your job?

Working with great people, helping children and going on trips with them. I love taking photos of the wonderful things we

do and sharing them on the website and social media.

What is your ideal murder weapon and why?

Poisoned chocolate because I wouldn’t have to do much - they would just want to eat it all up.

Which year group gets on your nerves the most and why?

None of them but it is frustrating when yard equipment is not put away.

If you could improve any part of the school what would it be and why?

It would be the Prep school garden because we could grow even more giant vegetables and I’d like a school pet to live in

it.

What is the messiest year group?

4s and 5s

If you could go to any country in the world where would you go?

The Galapagos Islands because I love nature. I would also like to go tarantula hunting in the forests in South America...a

bit like in the start of the film Arachnaphobia!

If you were forced to leave your home and you were only allowed to bring one thing what would you bring?

The keys to my car.

What is your favourite movie, why and what is your favourite scene?

Lord of the Rings because it is about people working together and my favourite scene is when Gandalf is slain by the

Balrog. The films could have been a bit shorter though!

Interview with Mr Calow, by Rafa K

What is the most enjoyable part of your job?

Reading with the children.

What is your ideal murder weapon and why?

Hypodermic syringe because it leaves no marks.

Which year group gets on your nerves the most and why?

Year 4 because they are always losing everything.

If you could improve any part of the school what would it be and why?

The staff room; it needs repainting.

What is the messiest year group?

Year 5.

If you could go to any country in the world where would you go?

Bermuda.

If you were forced to leave your home and you were only allowed to bring one thing what would bring?

My passport.

What is your favourite movie, why and what is your favourite scene?

Les miserables because it is so much fun and my favourite scene is when they are at the barricade.

BOARDING.. .

Horseriding - Hickstead

The Holmwood Equestrian Team spent the first weekend of half term competing for our school at the National Schools

Championships at Hickstead. They had qualified earlier in the year for two separate events - an achievement in itself beating

many other well known schools in the region (e.g. Felsted & New Hall) - and were now competing against schools from Wales,

Scotland, Yorkshire and Somerset.

The team competing at 75cm - Ottilie W, Lucy B, Maisy & Martha H - came an incredible 2nd! Holmwood Equestrian is 2nd in

the country! (Lucy B came individually 3rd out of the 140 riders, whilst Maisy came 5th). Then to top it off, the team competing

at the next level - 85cm - Hebe W, Lucy B, Maisy & Martha H- came an amazing 5th overall (Hebe came 9th individually out of

180 riders). This was particularly outstanding because they were by far the youngest team competing against much older riders

from large senior schools.

This is an incredible achievement by these young riders and we congratulate them on their huge success.

Foot Golf

On Wednesday the Year 8s had a fantastic time playing Foot Golf at Colchester Play Golf followed by a delicious pizza.

BUSHCRAFT CAMP.. .

“I think that it was the best trip

we've ever been on. I would really

recommend it for the Year 4s. I

loved making fires and the traps.

I like ALL OF IT!" Archie L

"I loved Bushcraft because

we got to make a fire and

sleep in our own shelter." Jude F

"In Bushcraft I loved making fire,

saving people (trying to!) and build-

ing our own tent that we slept in.

Thank you Shadows, Mr White and

Mrs Baker. We all loved it so much." Luca C
