THE WAY WE WORKWe have a passion for good design, and we love to create and implement living environments for and with our customers. This is quite simply the principle behind everything we do.

We listen and inspireWe listen carefully to your needs, demands and wishes – whether they are framed in a written invitation to tender, or expressed verbally over a meeting table. We then add our insight, expertise and passion for furniture and design. In this connection, some call us inspirational; others call us challenging.

We design and calculateAfter the initial discussions, our team of interior designers prepares a creative presentation, in which all of your wishes and our technical in-put are described and visualized. The price is carefully worked out, and of course the total budget never exceeds the agreed price framework.

We understand and planOnce the creative concept is in place, our logistics people begin the work of setting the planning in motion effectively. They collaborate with the customer’s contractors and inspect the building site/location, to ensure the highest quality in the delivery.

We purchase and produceNext, our inventory employees order the materials from one of our many key Danish producers. From here, we begin the design and pro-duction process at Holmris’ own factory in Denmark.

We deliver and evaluateThe project coordinators in our internal back-up team make sure that delivery is made at the agreed price, on time and complete. Once the delivery begins, our fitters are ready to do their work, and the final re-sult is a total interior environment ready for use.

We listen and assessAfter the delivery has been completed, we value the opportunity to as-sess the entire process with the customer. Our mantra is: if better is possible, good is not good enough. That’s why we pay attention to the customers when they have suggestions for doing things better.

ENOK KLOSTER, SALES DIRECTOR FOR EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONSPeople learn in different ways. That’s why we, together with the customer, develop our interior solutions for educational environments for the people who have to function and perform in them.

When it comes to interior design for educational institutions in Den-mark, Holmris + Flexform is among the most experienced in our field. Our focus is always on developing an interior that provides the best surroundings for the education of adults, young people and children.

Interior design stimulating children and their teachersWe know that children learn best in stimulating surroundings. We also know that teachers thrive when the surroundings are modern, flexible and aesthetic. Our designs for schools are the result of close dialogue with the children, the teachers and the administrators. We develop multi-functional working environments, comfortable staff rooms, flexible classrooms and common areas where children and teachers can be together.

We are well equipped to meet the challenges arising from the inclu-sion of children with special needs. We design and produce versatile furniture and interior fittings which, for example, allow classrooms and common areas to be divided and partitioned.

Modern teaching demands modern interior designThe demands for flexible learning environments at high schools, uni-versities and other places of education are growing quickly. Holmris + Flexform accommodates new educational styles with the interior solutions of the future. In close dialogue with students and teachers, we develop unique environments which, with their high functionality, comfort, uncompromising design and, not least, great flexibility, con-tribute to better learning.

TINE SANDER MAINZ, TEAM LEADER / PROJECT MANAGER FOR CARE

CAREHolmris + Flexform creates safe and warm environments in institutions, care centres and hospitals. When we develop interior solutions for the care sector, the challenge is to give a “public space” a homely quality that its clients will benefit from.

For decades, Holmris + Flexform has collaborated with the care and healthcare sector in Denmark. We don’t create homes, but we create the conditions in which residents, clients, patients and relatives can feel comfortable and at home.

The clients often find themselves in a vulnerable situation or point in their lives. This of course requires special attention and competence when designing environments for such situations.

Hygiene, comfort and ergonomicsNaturally, our interior design solutions for the care and healthcare sec-

tor live up to the most stringent hygiene demands. For example, all furniture and textiles have to be easy to clean and maintain.

High priority is also given to comfort and functionality. People in vulnerable care or healthcare circumstances must be allowed to sit or lie comfortably, and the environment should foster understanding and guidance.

At the same time, the ergonomics potential of the interior design solutions plays a central role for the employees of institutions, care centres and hospitals.

CULTUREHolmris + Flexform is responsible for some of the country’s biggest arenas and conference centres. As well as kilometres of our intelligent chair series, we deliver lounge furniture and other design components for cultural and conference activi-ties in Denmark. We have the same level of professionalism when our customer is a small civic centre or library, because the assignment is more or less the same: to create space for people.

We furnish arenas, conference centres, theatres, churches and other large facilities where large numbers of people meet and mingle. In this context, beautiful design, good quality and high functionality are a given, but it is the solution’s intrinsic flexibility and logistical potential that makes the difference.

Holmris + Flexform delivers chairs which are easily stacked, eas-ily connected and easily moved around on specially designed trolleys which can carry 100 chairs at a time.

Comfort, aesthetics and technologyOur solutions ensure that comfort is guaranteed, the distance between

chairs is appropriate and the visual impression is optimal. Number-ing of seats and rows is made easy by Holmris + Flexform’s intelligent technology, which is built on magnetism, lithium batteries and auto-matic control. This makes it easier to number thousands of chairs very quickly. When we furnish churches, culture and conference centres, as well as arenas and theatres, we always strive to create a harmony between the expression of our interior designs and the surrounding facilities: anterooms, foyers, café areas and lounges. This contributes to a holistic experience characterised by comfort and high aesthetics.

CASE: DSB’S DOMICILE

360° INTERIOR DESIGN OF DOMICILE FOR 1200 EMPLOYEESHolmris + Flexform was given six months to furnish DSB’s new domi-cile in Taastrup. The agreement was made on the background of an EU call for tenders, and it involved all furniture in the new headquarters. As well as 1200 workplaces, Holmris + Flexform had to design meeting rooms, a canteen, multi-purpose rooms, training rooms etc.

Lotte Ebeskov, Senior Procurement Manager at DSB, had this to say about the process: “Right from the start, they delivered creative and functional solutions that fully lived up to our expectations. During

the process, they sent us a lot of illustrations and design plans, which made it easy for DSB’s project team to present the solutions to the pro-ject steering group.

In spite of the tight schedule, all of the furniture was delivered and assembled ready for the first working day at our new domicile. Work-ing with Holmris + Flexform was a pleasure, and we were certain that, with help from such a dedicated supplier, we would successfully meet our deadline”.

Facts about deliveryThe contract was signed in December 2012, and the new DSB domicile was fully furnished by 2 June 2013.

› 1200 workplaces

› 90 multi-purpose rooms

› 60 meeting rooms

› 16 lounge areas

CASE: ODENSE CITY CAMPUS

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY DESIGN WITHIN ORGANIC ARCHITECTUREMinisters, municipal school administrators and pedagogical think tanks have visited Odense City Campus to admire the architecture and the Nordic interior design of the Higher Preparation (HF) and Adult Ed-ucation (VU) Centre.

Holmris + Flexform accommodated the desire for environment friendly interior design with natural materials such as wood, linoleum, wool and other natural resources. Our close collaboration with the cus-tomer, building contractor and architects also gave rise to some in-teresting social design concepts such as soft spots with a Japanese theme, Moroccan touches and traces of the 1970s.

The interior design project came out of an EU invitation to tender, and Holmris + Flexform was engaged as a creative discussion partner and supplier. We were tasked to create a complete, custom-made in-

terior design programme adhering to the conditions of the tender and various pedagogical requirements.

“We are not looking for one particular type of classroom but many different types catering to a wide variety of learning goals. We want to work in rooms that place the students’ learning goals in focus. In the large, open and common spaces students can sense each other, whether they are working individually or in groups.

We are curious to see how the architecture and interior design har-monise with the pedagogical and social aspects of training and learn-ing processes. We are also interested in how to create an inspirational learning environment in an interplay between architecture, interior design, pedagogy and sociality”, Odense City Campus manager Mari-anne Karlshøj says.

THOMAS WIBERG, MARKETING AND DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

NOBODY WANTS STANDARD SOLUTIONS”That is why we work closely with architects and designers to create something unique.”

We would rather have 10 experts than 100 generalists. ) Therefore, we always recruit and train in order to strengthen our four segments: OF-FICE, EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS, CARE and CULTURE. Only in this way we can give our customers competent feedback and advice. No-body wants standard solutions, and therefore we work closely with ar-chitects and designers to create something unique.

Holmris + Flexform has in just a few years merged a number of the most significant companies in the industry. In doing so it has gath-ered the most competent employees in a large, powerful interior de-sign company. As marketing and development director, Thomas works

closely with architects and designers to create furniture and other in-terior design components that very specifically match the customer’s demands for design and functionality.

Thomas believes that the correlation between architect, designer and users is a necessary prerequisite for the development of the beautiful, functional and long-lasting solution. When there is a fruitful process and dialogue between designers and users, this mutual interdepend-ency results in fantastic interior design solutions that can always be justified.

HENRIK HOLMRIS, FACTORY OWNER

FOR HOLMRIS + FLEXFORM IT IS ACTUALLY A QUESTION OF SUPPORTING THE CUSTOMER’S BUSINESS″Production in Denmark gives a high degree of flexibility. Regardless of whether we produce furniture for hospitals, schools, domiciles or conference centres, it is a question of adding value for the customer and for the users of the interior design environment.”

As a factory owner, Henrik is in charge of 80 competent people at the factory in Bjerringbro, where furniture has been produced since 1937. Since the financial crisis, the group turnover has increased sevenfold, and Henrik has been nominated as business leader of the year in the region; the factory has received the local Initiative Prize from the Con-federation of Danish Industry, and once again in 2014, the company has been awarded Fast-Growth Company status by Børsen newspaper. Henrik does not see himself as a business leader who deserves prizes.

He would prefer just to develop innovative furniture with his employ-ees and with the country’s best architects.

As well as being responsible for the factory, Henrik has a job that is a colourful mixture of sales, marketing and development. He loves the variety involved in both being close to customers, architects and designers and being close to the people in the factory, who make eve-rything happen.

WINNIE GLUDSTED, INTERIOR DESIGNER

EVERY TIME IT IS A UNIQUE CHALLENGE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE USERS As an interior designer it is a pleasure to have an empty room or an empty build-ing placed at one’s disposal. Every time it is a unique challenge to meet the needs of the users and to create a pleasant working or recreational environment, where people can feel good. It is a question of aesthetics, functionality, materials and the customer’s values all coming together.

Expert in possibilitiesWinnie calls herself a catalyst in a process that ends with the custom-er getting what he wanted, despite maybe not knowing that this was possible.

As interior designers, Winnie and her colleagues make a point of un-derstanding the users’ needs and analysing the rooms in which the solutions are to function. With this as a starting point they develop complete solutions that involve furniture, accessories, lighting, acous-

tics and colours. At the same time they comply with the customers’ increased demands for multifunctional interior design.

The interior designers at Holmris + Flexform always keep their fin-ger on the pulse as regards new technologies, new materials and new products on the market. In addition to this, they place great emphasis on close cooperation with the country’s best external colleagues, as this constantly creates new impulses and new inspiration – thereby benefiting both our customers and Holmris + Flexform.

KIM MØLLER CHRISTIANSEN, PROJECT MANAGER

WE ALWAYS TRY TO GO THAT EXTRA MILE“I guide and inspire the customer, but my most important job is to listen to and understand his values and his specific interior design needs. It is a pleasure to come back to the interior designers with a new challenging project. Together we develop a complete proposal, and we always try to go that extra mile, so that the customer does not just get what he had imagined.”

Kim is responsible for some of Holmris + Flexform’s small and medi-um-sized customers, which he typically advises in connection with relocations or with the construction of completely new domiciles.Regardless of the size of the project, Kim is in very close dialogue with Holmris + Flexform’s designers and interior designers in order to de-velop the perfect solution every time.

Kim has been in the interior design business for more than 10 years. He greatly appreciates the recurrent challenge involved in tailoring a solution with fantastic furniture that the customer and the users will be pleased with for a long time.

STEPHAN TARRIS, FITTER

IT STARTS WITH AN EMPTY ROOM“I am a fitter at Holmris + Flexform because it is a job that never gets boring. Every project is a new story, and it is very satisfying for me that no two days are alike. It starts with an empty room and ends with a customer who stands smiling in the new interior design environment.”

Animated Swiss army knivesStephan and his 32 colleagues at Holmris + Flexfom’s logistics depart-ment can best be described as animated Swiss army knives. Their broad experience and their uncompromising skills allow Stephan and his colleagues to manage even the most challenging installation tasks. For Stephan, his job satisfaction increases when he is working on these special installation tasks.

Stephan works on everything from the interior design of hospitals

and schools to smaller private companies. He assembles furniture, mounts acoustic panels, hangs up cupboards, puts up whiteboards, di-vides rooms using partitions, and does any of the hundreds of other installation tasks that are part of a large interior design project.

Holmris + Flexform’s fitters are attached to their own regular cus-tomers. This creates the optimal conditions for the collaboration, as the fitter knows the company he is working for.

KRISTINE JØRGENSEN, BACK OFFICE

I OFTEN FEEL LIKE CHANGING A LOT OF MY FURNITURE AT HOME “The furniture and interior design business is fantastic. I often feel like chang-ing a lot of my furniture at home, because there are new and exciting designs all the time. I am also happy that there is a lot going on in my working day. Our salespeople constantly come in with challenging projects, and it is the job of my colleagues and me to gather all the threads.”

Committed all-roundersKristine describes herself as an all-rounder at Holmris + Flexform. Along with her 11 colleagues in Back Office she follows up on the sales-people’s agreements with the customers.

When an order has been submitted, Kristine immediately starts to plan the delivery to the customer. Most interior design solutions con-sist of materials from many different producers, and many of the de-

liveries involve hundreds of pieces of furniture. This requires a good sense of coordination from Kristine and her colleagues in Back Office.

They check prices, order materials from up to 250 different suppliers, arrange details with the customer, and manage the dialogue with the factory in Bjerringbro. In other words, it is the responsibility of Kristine and her colleagues that everything is delivered as agreed, on time, at the right price, and, not least, at the same time.

MICHAEL THIMGAARD, DIRECTOR

WE DON’T JUST WANT TO DELIVER THE MARKET’S BEST INTERIOR DESIGN SOLUTIONS“We are passionate about the ultimate piece of furniture and ground-breaking inte-rior design, but not at any price. We have set up our business, our workplace and our production so that Holmris + Flexform is a company that takes responsibility in relation to the environment and to people,” Michael Thimgaard says.

The UN’s Global Compact We have joined the UN’s Global Compact. This is a strategic political initiative for companies that have committed themselves to running their business and their production based on the 10 universal princi-ples within human rights, the working environment, anti-corruption and the environment.

ISO-certifiedAs an extension of this, Holmris has an ISO 14001 environmental cer-tification. This means that our production processes and operations live up to the demands of the Danish environmental authorities, and that all parts of our production are organised according to ambitious environmental considerations.

SMP supplierHolmris + Flexform is an SMP supplier. SMP is the abbreviation for the

State’s and Municipalities’ Purchasing Service (in Danish – SKI (Stat-ens og Kommunernes Indkøbs Service)). As an SMP supplier, our pro-duction process and other activities have been approved in relation to societal, environmental and social responsibility.

A special workplace Holmris + Flexform offers its customers and business partners some of the country’s brightest interior design and furniture people. It is our ambition to offer employees and prospective employees a workplace that is based on a high level of professionalism, genuine care and a lot of humour as some of the leading values.

ANITA TAKIAR, KEY ACCOUNT MANAGER

THE HOME COUNTRY OF FURNITURE DESIGN”It is extremely satisfying to be able to offer our customers the very best from the traditions of Danish and European furniture. And it is always enjoyable to combine the well-known classics with the furniture we produce at our own factory in Denmark. Quite special interior design solutions often arise at the meet-ing of the traditional and the modern,” says Anita Takiar, key account manager at Holmris + Flexform.

The story of Danish furniture design is unique. This is why Holmris + Flexform walks humbly approach, when we are developing interior design solutions that combine the great classics with modern models from our own architects and from our own factory.

The ambition of Holmris + Flexform has always been to create a bal-anced and visionary interior design that matches the needs of the us-ers. We are usually successful, and this is, among other things, because

of our close cooperation with up to 250 brilliant producers and distribu-tors of furniture. The major part of our business partners are Danish companies that are determined to carry forward the proud tradition of Danish furniture. For decades, we have built up close relationships with these companies, and the very wide range of brands at Holmris + Flexform makes us the country’s most versatile supplier of interior design solutions.
