Hollywood under the Stars event. - Celebration night 2014 is on Wednesday 17 December. Consultation has

taken place with students and parents, and as there are 2 graduating classes graduation will probably take place at a special Year 6/7 dinner.

6. President’s report Tinka gave a rundown of current actions and priorities as follows:

- P&C welcome morning tea took place on the first day of term - P&C contributions were on the booklist but it is not yet known what % of

parents made their contributions. Suggestion that the amount requested ($70 per family) is reviewed for next year (to be considered in Term 3). It was noted that the Library Fund is no longer tax deductible and will probably not attract so many funds. Suggestion that a free hat be given with each payment or have a prize draw to encourage contributions.

- A priority for P&C this year is to improve communication with the P&C meeting being the place to hear news first hand.

7. School Council Felicity McKenzie provided the School Council report as follows:

- The School Council met at the end of last year and again in January to review the results of the school survey and to set priorities. The survey identified ‘student values’ as important, and as a result staff have identified a program called ‘Friendly Schools +’ which the school is implementing this year.

- During the past 12 months the school has been working on improving links with Shenton College, in order to better prepare students for the transition to senior school. In line with this, Mr Paul Bakich (Y2 parent and science teacher at Shenton College) has joined the School Council.

- Council members reviewed school buildings and grounds and noted that much progress has been made but some projects (early learning centre; oval, landscaping etc) are still not finished. It was noted that once the Department of Education is finished, there will be some additional requirements for eg landscaping, shade etc, and that the P&C may decide to make this a priority for funding.

- Tinka offered to get plants wholesale if required. 8. Treasurers Report The Treasurer’s report is attached. Some notes:

- There was a big invoice for uniforms in February - The P&C has funded Mathletics for 2014 - Pool invoices due

9. Pool Report Katie Dunkley reported the following:

- new pool contractor working well - Vacswim was successful despite all the building works - Bold Park pool will be closed next year for renovations so it is expected that

there will be increased pool traffic - Katie will try to get an increase in the pool grant - 61 pool keys were sold for the season bringing in over $7,000 - There are some community users (for eg scouts next week) - some objectives for 2014 are to reline the pool, renovate pool housing etc

- Katie is looking for a second pool coordinator from among the school families who use the pool

- There was a suggestion for ‘Family Fun Fridays’ where non keyholders could pay say $5 to come.

- The pool will be open until end April 10. Canteen Report The Canteen is working well and a new class-by-class roster system is helping get volunteers for peak periods. The estimate to upgrade power in the Canteen for installation of a new oven is about $1,000. The school will fund this out of maintenance budget. 11. Uniform Shop Lucy Watts reported that the uniform shop is very busy. 35 new schoolbags are due for delivery tomorrow but are being discontinued so we have to revert back to the old schoolbag model. Lucy noted that parents need more direction on the wearing of uniforms. The reality is that students are to be strongly encouraged to wear the school uniform and it is compulsory for outings etc, but no child can be discriminated against for not wearing it. Bev agreed to clarify in the school newsletter. The grey school jumper has been discontinued, and new red jumpers have been re-ordered but have not yet been delivered. Lucy noted that Barbara Anderson will soon be leaving Hollywood, and thanked her for all her work. Lucy was also commended on her valuable input. 12. Grants There is a current opportunity to apply for a grant for shadesails which would be very useful in light of current building works etc around the school. 13. Fundraising The P&C is still looking for a main fundraising coordinator. On the horizon:

- Giro d’Perth cycling event will base itself at Hollywood Primary School on Sunday 16 March. There will be an opportunity to sell coffees, muffins and other items.

- Bushdance will take place on Saturday 29 March. Band parents (coordinated by Jane Bisschops) will take the lead but it is a whole-school function. True Blue Bush Band will be tapping out the tunes and there will be a silent auction and raffle. Measures will be put in place to ensure that children’s behaviour doesn’t get out of hand.

14. General Matters

- Query about how to include Kindy parents in the P&C welcome morning tea for future years.

- In order to forge closer relations with staff, P&C representatives would like to attend the next staff meeting on Wed 26 February to introduce themselves.

16. Close of Meeting and next meeting The meeting closed at 9.15. Next meeting will take place on Wednesday 19 March 2014.
