The Blacklists Victims In 1952 Charlie Chaplin was exiled formthe country while on a trip back toEngland. His Visa had been revoked; hedecided not to fight it. He only returnedonce, and that was in 1972 to accept hisAcademy Award. As the Hollywood blacklist continuedstrong into the mid 1950s, The ScreenWriters Guild gave permission for moviestudios to leave out the names of thosewho had not been cleared byCongressional investigations, and thosehttp://chaplin-gifs.tumblr.com/ already on the blacklist. It was difficult for blacklisters so shake the stigma even afterthey were cleared and many of them never came back tothe industry. Toward the end of the 1950s, certain blacklisters began toget work in the industry again mostly under pseudonyms orused the names of friends as fronts. 8. The Blacklist Ends John Henry Faulk was a key figure to ending theblacklist. Faulk was blacklisted and was fired by CBS forbeing an alleged communist sympathizer. His radio andtelevision career destroyed. Faulk sued, and in 1962 thecourts ruled in his favor. His successful lawsuit against blacklisters of theentertainment industry helped to bring an end tothe Hollywood blacklist. In 1960, Kirk Douglas credited blacklisted writer Dalton Trumbo, of the Hollywood Ten, as the movies writer, using Trumbos real name. Currently, The Writers Guild has gone back and given credit to all who helped in movies where their names were taken out. 9.
