Coach’s Corner: LEAD Perhaps you’ve seen this word in all caps with the word ‘team’ following it. In this context “LEAD” is not an acronym. Nor is it referring to the metal substance that Flint is battling in its pipes. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines it as; “to go before or with or to guide the way.” The members of Holly Calvary’s LEAD team have responded to the call to be guides for our congregation. The focus of LEAD team meetings is to prayerfully seek God’s will for the future directions of Holly Calvary UMC. LEAD team studies our congregation, our community, our context, and God’s Word. They immerse in prayerful discernment as they seek God’s direction and purpose for Holly Calvary UMC. The members of LEAD are current leaders from most of the ministries in our church. They are committed to personal spiritual growth and to the Holy Spirit-led path of faithfulness to God’s call upon Holly Calvary UMC. LEAD typically meets the fourth Saturday of each month from 9:00-11:00 am. These are not closed meetings. We welcome anyone who desires to attend. We also welcome additional team members. and boats. If you have life jackets, boats, oars, lanterns, wood, trees, etc. Please put your name on your items and we will return them to you. There will be a box in the hallway for all donations. If you have any questions, please call Barbra Nickels at 248-904-6899. We will be decorating the church on Sunday, July 22nd after church. Lunch will be provided. We need men to help bring in from the garage and hang items with the ladder. We will be tearing down the following Sunday, July 29th. A special thanks to the United Methodist Women, the GIFT Circle and the Holly Methodist Men for their donation to VBS to help pay for the t-shirts! We couldn’t have done it without you!

Blood Drive June 19 from 1-7 pm

Remember the need for blood remains the same while donations drop off during the summer months.

Michigan Area United Methodist Camping and Bay Shore Camp Ministries are available in the hallway. Make sure you stop by and pick one up so you can find the camp that is best suited for you and your child.

The MI Area UM Camp has nine different sites and events, at each site, that are organized by date and either age or school grade entering in 2018. They offer unique programs / experiences for people of all ages and abilities at their beautiful camps, campgrounds and retreat centers and include both Bible based teaching and exciting, fun activities.

G.I.F.T. Circle and both the Holly Methodist Men and Women’s groups join together to provide deposits and scholarships so young children can go to camp, so please don’t let money be a factor in preventing your child(ren) from experiencing this great camping opportunity. Please look them over and make your decision soon so we can reserve a spot for your camper(s). If you have any question please contact Dawn Rogers at 810.629.8486 or Brenda Trimmer at 248.634.7613. Completed applications can be turned into the office.

GOD BLESS OUR 2018 GRADUATES

ABBIGAIL JOSETTE HAGER

Abbigail is the daughter of Harmony Walz and Everett Hager and sister to Nikolas Hager. Her grandparents are Ellen and Mike Walz. She grew up in Fenton and will graduate on June 10, 2018 from Fenton High School. Her favorite subjects were art classes- performance and visual, Forensics, Choir and the Robotics Team in her freshman year.

Abbi likes to be creative, draw, paint, make-up for special effects, sing and write. She loves her special friend - her cat, Ming.

She has been in Calvary’s Youth Group and Sunday school. We rejoiced with her when she was confirmed in 2014. Abbi worked at KFC in Fenton, at the Movie Theater in Grand Blanc and volunteered at Haunted House “Exit 13”. Abbi plans to gap a year to save enough money to be able to attend the Make-Up Academy for Special Effects in Troy, Michigan, next year. God bless you, Abbigail! We are proud of your achievement!

ALEXANDRA B. SCHROEDER

Alexandra is the daughter of Pastor Cliff and Rachel Schroeder. She has 3 brothers, Eric, Elijah and Zacchary. KitKat is her cat in the future. Alex began her school years in Birch Run, being home schooled in K-1st. grade. She attended 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades in the Birch Run Schools. Due to her allergies, she was forced to home school again until she came to

Holly. She has attended Holly High School from where she will graduate on June 8, 2018.

She enjoyed her foreign language classes, the writing classes and band the most. Alex played the clarinet for symphony and the marching band and tenor sax for jazz band. Alex is very artistic and also plays the piano occasionally. She has been working at McDonald’s for the past year. She did not mention it, but I heard she is a good cook. She earned a brown belt in Karate. She can keep up with her brothers! Ask her about her spinning wheel! Alexandra received the Trustee Scholraship from Ohio Northern University, where she plans to study foreign languages, beginning this fall. God bless you, Alexandra! Hopefully, we will get to see you when you have college breaks.

We hope that all your dreams come true and may the Holy Spirit guide you

Tuesday mornings 11 am to Noon

James 1:2-3 states: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” I questioned how pure joy can result through trials and eventually produce faith that results in perseverance. I questioned this as I went through a most difficult trial in my life a numbers of years ago. Today I can say unquestionably (and with joy) that this is true! God’s Word always proves to be true! Focus for An Hour of Prayer ministry this month is for perseverance. This ministry meets Tuesdays 11 am – noon; we pray for all concerns, praises, etc. Call Mary Jane Winodradsky with questions at 248-634-3839.

Thank you to all of those who participated in the Treasure Hunt. God watched out for our fun and kept the rain at bay for most of the day. 8 teams showed up and 38 hunters descended upon our town of Holly. A special thanks to Barb and Kevin Nickels for all the help to put this event on. We had wonderful puzzles and a great time. Congrats to our first place team Sacajawea, 2nd place or Team White Car and in Third place, Team Rocket. Look for some wonderful pictures of our event, hopefully they will be up on the screen soon.

Young Adults......come Saturday June 23rd play some games and bring your thinking caps. Let’s figure out what is in store for us. Come to Ortonville around 5:00 p.m. Sharri and Douglas Hallett
