There are three forms of visual art; painting is art to look at, sculpture is art
you can walk around, and architecture is art you can walk through-Dan Rice
Holiday House Founder, Iris Dankner, was inspired to combine her two passions – interior design and fundraising for breast cancer research – when she saw a lack of high profile interior design events in the New York City area benefitting women’s issues. After its inception in 2008, Holiday House became the first designer showhouse in New York City to benefit a breast cancer organization, attracting talented designers from across the country to transform the historic Academy Mansion on Manhattan’s Upper East Side each fall. Now established as one of the premier showhouses in the country, Holiday House will hold its third-annual Holiday House Hamptons in the summer of 2016, showcasing stylish summer living and entertaining.
Holiday House is so unique because each design space is themed around a holiday or special moment in life that inspires the designer. The event is as much about celebrating life as it is about fighting breast cancer.
Proceeds from Holiday House events benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation®, which was founded by Evelyn Lauder in 1993 and works tirelessly towards achieving prevention and a cure for breast cancer by providing critical funding for innovative clinical research at leading medical centers worldwide, and increasing public awareness about good breast health.

Dear Friends,
On behalf of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), it is my pleasure to welcome you to Holiday House.
BCRF’s late Founder, Evelyn Lauder, had a singular vision when she imagined the mission of BCRF: a laser-sharp focus on funding the best and brightest scientists in cancer research to achieve our ultimate goal of breast cancer prevention and cure. Determined to continue Evelyn’s philanthropic ambition and honor her lasting impact on research, BCRF is supporting more than 240 scientists globally and stands today as the most highly rated and largest private funder of breast cancer research worldwide.
In this year alone, BCRF will award research grants totaling $54 million, which includes $48.5 million through BCRF’s annual research grants program and $5.4 million dedicated to the Evelyn H. Lauder Founder’s Fund. Representing a broad range of clinical and laboratory investigations, BCRF supported researchers are deeply involved in every major breakthrough in breast cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and survivorship. The Founder’s Fund is a global initiative focused on unraveling the biology of metastasis, which enables our brain-trust of brilliant researchers to make significant progress that will impact the resolution of not only breast but many other cancers.
We extend our deepest appreciation and gratitude to Iris Dankner, whose inspired commitment created Holiday House, and to the talented designers who have brought forth this beautiful experience and opportunity to advance BCRF’s mission. The philanthropic heart of the design community is on display at Holiday House for all to see and appreciate. To all of the supporters of this showhouse, you have our sincerest thanks for joining Holiday House and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in our shared vision of a world free of breast cancer. We are committed as ever to advancing the world’s most groundbreaking studies because, as Evelyn keenly understood, investing in research produces results. It’s the only way forward.
Please enjoy touring Holiday House and know that through your participation, you are helping to fuel research today, to save lives tomorrow.
With deep appreciation,

Dear Friends,
I am excited to once again be bringing Holiday House out to the Hamptons for the 3rd summer! This year’s venue is one of the most incredibly unique properties we have ever secured— magnificent views of Mecox Bay, the only rooftop Tennis Court on Long Island, an infinity pool, and over 9,000 square feet of outdoor space!
This house lends itself to being a beautiful canvas for designers to express their own creativity. I truly feel that this house is unlike any one that we’ve done so far. I am extremely excited to have collaborated with some of the best galleries and artists in the Hamptons and New York City. I must personally thank Fred Dorfman: this year’s art collection is by far the best yet!
With our extraordinary partners, HC&G, 456 Development, PRDG architecture + design, NJC Contracting, Douglas Elliman, and The Corcoran Group… we have created a dream home filled with creative ideas, edgy design, and exciting art!
Most importantly, I want to thank you all for coming out to support this extremely important cause. Along with my two daughters, I created Mission in Pink, Inc., a non-for-profit that grants its funds to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). BCRF is dedicated to finding a cure and provides critical funding for research worldwide. As a survivor, I know firsthand that early detection saves lives. Recent statistics show that if breast cancer is diagnosed in its early stages, the five-year survival rate is as high as 97%. I am living proof!
I hope you enjoy your visit to Holiday House and embrace the breezy luxury and the peaceful spirit that defines the Hamptons. Wishing you all a summer filled with laughter, and most importantly, good health!

Evelyn Lauder and Iris Dankner are of the same piece. They both founded organizations to battle the scourge of breast cancer.
Christopher Hyland Incorporated, the textile company, and HYLAND, the digital magazine, are happy to join the fight while also promoting great decorating, a vital part of our economic life and a vehicle that enriches the home and spirit.
It is wonderful to see the outstanding books published by Rizzoli, soon one on the outstanding work of Holiday House alumnus Inson Wood. It was an honor to write an introduction for his book and it is a splendid experience to read, as the years go by, beautifully presented tomes on other Holiday House design denizens. The design community memorializes our era through each one of these volumes and in so doing reaffirms the importance of the built world both to human happiness and as an economic driving force.
Thanks to Iris and the outstanding Holiday House team for yet another outstanding showhouse. HIP HIP HOORAY!!!

I’m honored to return for another fabulous year as an event chair of Holiday House Hamptons alongside Robert Stilin & Vicente Wolf. Holiday House continues to bring people together in celebration of great design and in commitment to fight for a cure to breast cancer. This disease is one that stretches far and wide, its tentacles having touched all of us in some way. I feel lucky to be a part of an industry that stands tall and together in a fight for this cause. I hope that you will all join me at this year’s Holiday House Hamptons in a celebration of life, great design, and a dedication to bringing an end to breast cancer.

The Hamptons Holiday House is such a great event and I am so honored to be asked on as a design chairman this year. I have called the Hamptons home for over 25 years and appreciate that HC&G brings the design community together for such a great cause.I am happy to be involved with and support this benefit as breast cancer has affected close friends, clients and colleagues. The showhouse not only showcases the work of many talented designs and vendors, but it also raises much needed awareness and funding for breast cancer research.

I feel so pleased to have been selected to be this year’s Design Chairman for Holiday House Hamptons! Not only because I respect what Holiday House does for the community but their long standing efforts to support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation has been impactful.
This event raises funds for such a worthy cause that has become an essential part of my life. I was brought on to the Holiday House project by Lana Lawrence of Anthony Lawrence-Belfair (ALB.) Lana was a courageous, hard working and positive woman who passed away last year of cancer. Her everlasting support and efforts for the Holiday House cause was an inspiration to all. I can think of no other way to honor her memory than to be involved in this year’s event.

It’s the 15th Anniversary of HC&G and the third year we have presented Holiday House Hamptons (HHH).
When HC&G debuted in the Hamptons it was surprising, audacious, gorgeous and instantly embraced by the community. From the beginning the magazine celebrated great design by creating and sponsoring signature events that our readers love.
Showhouses are particularly fascinating and we have worked hard to make each one different – and a talking point. Our last HHH was actually several homes at the Watchcase factory in Sag Harbor and this year is no less fascinating. The 13,000 square foot house is located in a picturesque setting in Watermill overlooking Mecox Bay and boasts a tennis court on the roof!
We are grateful to Iris Dankner and Christopher Hyland, Founder and cofounder respectively of HHH and to our design chairs, Thom Filicia, Robert Stilin and Vicente Wolf for making all of this possible.Linda Haugevik of Douglas Elliman and Timothy Davis of Corcoran secured this fabulous house and we thank Philip Rossillo of PRDG Architecture, 456 Development Group and John DeVito from NJC Contracting Corp for allowing us to create this special place which will be open to the public to benefit Breast Cancer Research Foundation.Pamela Eldridge, Publisher of HC&G is the glue who holds all of this together and has my undying admiration!

Hampton Holiday House.indd 1 10/05/2016 12:24
After such a smashing success with our previous showhouses, it is such an honor to be partnering again with Holiday House—a force of its own, at almost 10 years old—in the third edition of Holiday House Hamptons. And what a showhouse this one is. With pond and ocean views on a heavenly slice of property south of the highway in Water Mill, it’s the ideal blank slate for our roster of talented decorators to work their magic on. And at 13,000 square feet—not to mention an additional 9,000 square feet of outdoor space—there’s plenty of room for creativity. Oh, and did I mention that there’s a tennis court on the roof?
It’s all a lot of fun, but it’s important to remember that everything in this showhouse is being done in the name of a good cause: raising money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Holiday House Hamptons’ designers, sponsors, and vendors have devoted enormous talent, energy, and resources to this wonderful project under the steel-willed guidance of Holiday House founder Iris Dankner, a breast-cancer survivor herself and an inspiration to us all. So while you walk through the house, think about how little it takes to make a difference, whether it’s changing a lampshade or changing someone’s life.

Harissa-marinated beef sirloin with preserved lemon sauceSubmitted by Elizabeth Dow
Preparation
Brush the harissa into the meat, season with a quarter-teaspoon of salt and some black pepper, and leave to marinade for at least an hour (or in the fridge overnight).
Meanwhile, make the sauce. Cook the peppers under a hot grill for 20-25 minutes, turning twice, until charred all over. Place in a bowl, cover with clingfilm until cool, then peel them and cut into long, thin strips. Discard the skin and seeds.
Heat the oil in a medium frying pan over medium heat. Fry the garlic for 30 seconds on medium heat, add the tomatoes, chilli, paprika, a quarter-teaspoon of salt and some black pepper, bring to a simmer and cook for seven minutes. Add the pepper strips, preserved lemon skin and parsley, and cook for seven minutes, until the sauce thickens but is still easy to pour. Set aside and allow to come to room temperature.
Preheat the oven to 190C/375C/gas mark 5. Place a ridged griddle pan on a high heat and, when smoking hot, add the steaks and cook for a minute a side. Transfer to a baking tray and cook for eight minutes, until done to medium. Serve warm or at room temperature, sliced into thin strips, with sauce spooned on top and sprinkled with parsley, if you like.
Serves four.
Ingredients
1½ tbsp harissa
2 300g beef sirloin steaks, trimmed
Salt and black pepper
2 large yellow peppers
2 tbsp olive oil
1 garlic clove, peeled and crushed
400g tin chopped Italian tomatoes
½ tsp flaked chilli
¼ tsp sweet paprika
1 tbsp preserved lemon skin, thinly sliced
2 tbsp chopped parsley, plus extra to garnish
SWEET
Preparation
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease (with non-stick cooking spray) and flour two 8 or 9 inch cake pans
2. In a medium bowl with a whisk, stir together the two eggs. Then, add the liquid ingredients (buttermilk, vinegar and red food coloring) and whisk until combined. Set aside
3. In a new large mixing bowl, combine all the dry ingredients (flour, butter, sugar, baking soda, salt and cocoa). Next, add the wet ingredients to the dry and with a hand mixer or in a bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, mix together on medium - high for a minute or until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
4. Pour the batter into a cake pan and bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the cake comes out clean, with no crumbs attached.
5. Cool the cake in the pan for 15 minutes and once cool, remove from the pan set aside
Cream Cheese Frosting
1. In a small bowl, mix the butter and cream cheese together on medium - high speed until light and fluffy. Add the sugar one cup at a time, beating together until well combined. Finally, add the vanilla and beat on high speed for 1-2 minutes until fluffy.

1. Over a large mixing bowl, crumble / break apart the cake with your fingers or a fork until the texture is tiny and crumbly and all you are left with are cake crumbs (this will be the base of your cake pop).
Ingredients
1 cup buttermilk
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour 1 1/2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 stick butter softened
2 oz red food coloring
1/2 stick unsalted butter
6 oz cream cheese
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups confectioners sugar

2. Add the frosting to your cake crumbs and mix together until the frosting is dissolved into the cake. At this point, you should be able to roll the cake crumbs into a small, ball-like texture. It should be malleable in texture and thick enough to form into a small round shape. You don’t want them too be too big, probably big enough just to fit in the palm of your hand
3. Once you have made all your cake balls (a standard cake should yield about 50 pops), place the cake balls on a non-stick sheet tray and place them in the fridge for 1 - 2 hours or the freezer for a 1/2 hour.
Preparing the White Chocolate Ganache
1. Meanwhile, make the candy coating for the cake pops by melting 1 bar of white chocolate bark, white chocolate chips or ideally, a 14 oz. bag of white chocolate candy melts. Using either a double broiler over the stove or in a small glass bowl in a microwave, melt the chocolate until it is softened and the white chocolate has turned to liquid. Once melted, set aside
2. Take the dough balls out of the fridge / freezer and one at a time, dip them carefully into the melted candy coating. To make sure each cake ball has enough ganache, roll it around with a spoon in the ganache, being sure to coat the whole cake ball with candy coating
3. One by one, remove the cake pops from the coating and place on wax paper to harden

Preparation
Butter a 9”x1-1/2” round cake pan liberally. Line the bottom with wax paper and butter the paper. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
In the top of a double boiler melt the chocolate over hot water. Add the butter and stir until the butter has melted and the mixture is smooth
Remove from heat. Whisk the sugar gradually into the chocolate mixture until mixture is thick. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs until they are foamy. Then stir them into the chocolate mixture until they are well incorporated.
Pour the mixture in the prepared pan and place the pan in a 14” x 11” baking pan. Add enough boiling water to come halfway up the side of the baking pan. Bake in the center of oven for 1-1/2 hours. Remove the cake pan and let set for 10 minutes. Invert onto a plate. Serve at room temperature with coffee whipped cream.
Coffee whipped cream: beat one cup of heavy cream until it just begins to hold shape. Sift two tablespoons of powdered sugar over the top and beat until cream holds soft peaks. Stir in 1 tablespoon strong coffee. Spoon onto cake per serving.

Preparation
1 Position a rack in the center of the oven and preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly butter a 9-inch pie pan.
2 To make the crust, combine the crumbs, melted butter, and sugar in a medium bowl until moistened. Press firmly and evenly into the pie pan. Bake until the crust is set and smells like warm cookies, about 12 minutes. Cool completely.
3 To make the filling, in a medium saucepan over medium heat, heat 2 1/2 cups of the half-and-half, the sugar, and the salt, stirring often to dissolve the sugar, until simmering. Pour into a heatproof bowl. Rinse out the saucepan.
4 In a small bowl, sprinkle the cornstarch over the remaining 1/2 cup half-and-half and whisk until dissolved. Whisk the yolks in a medium bowl, and gradually whisk in the cornstarch mixture. Gradually whisk in the hot half-and-half mixture and return to the rinsed-out saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly with a flat wooden spatula (to keep the mixture from scorching), until it comes to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low and let the mixture bubble, stirring constantly, for 1 minute. Remove from the heat, add the chocolate, butter, and vanilla, and whisk until the chocolate melts completely. Strain through a wire sieve into a clean bowl.
5 Pour the filling into the cooled crust and press plastic wrap directly on the filling to keep a skin from forming. Let cool completely. Refrigerate until the filling is chilled and set, at least 2 hours.
6 To make the topping, whip the cream, confectioners’ sugar, and vanilla in a chilled medium bowl with an electric mixer set on high speed until stiff. Uncover the pie. Spread and swirl the topping over the filling. (If you wish, transfer the whipped cream to a pastry bag fitted with a star tip, and pipe the cream onto the pie.) Sprinkle pie with cookie crumbs. Slice and serve chilled.

Water Mill, a favorite of many well-known writers, artists and actors, offers wonderful real estate, a wide range of sporting activities, a fine polo team, riding stables, world-class golf courses and some of the finest sailing and fishing waters on the northeast coast. The global appeal for waterfront property in this area transcends the NY market and signifies status in the high-end world. 100 Crescent offers a seamless blend of the Hamptons contextual form of architecture with a progressive, modern undertone. Waterfront properties in eastern Long Island are limited and this is one of the few remaining opportunities in the area.
The site is located 90 miles from New York City in the Hamptons area of Mecox Bay, Water Mill. This is an area known to be the highest point of Long Island and a very exclusive location. Neighbors are known to be Fortune 500 CEOs and company owners that make the area one of the choice locations not only in New York State, but also around the world. 100 Crescent is located on Crescent Avenue situated where Mecox Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean, a breathtaking 2 acre site with pool, tennis court and a dock. It has 254 feet of water frontage directly on Mecox Bay with spectacular sunset water-views from both 1st and 2nd floor terrace spaces, as well as from the unique rooftop terrace/tennis court of this 13,000sf house. The property also has a heated pool and large covered exterior patios. This is a unique property that can never be replicated. Waterfront property on Mecox Bay in Water Mill is limited and is in high demand.
