Focusing on these four vital areas ensures that fraternity and sorority members become well-rounded individuals who are ready to successfully navigate their journey during and beyond their college years.

SCHOLARSHIPAcademic excellence is a vital aspect of fraternity and sorority membership at Hofstra University. Scholastic standards are important for each individual fraternity or sorority as well as the community as a whole. Programming, recognition and ongoing support are provided to help fraternity and sorority members pursue academic success.

LEADERSHIPDeveloping leaders for life after college is an essential goal of Greek involvement. Fraternity and sorority members participate in a variety of programs that emphasize leadership development. There are also many leadership opportunities for members in a fraternity or sorority at Hofstra, including chapter or council office positions, national or regional leadership conference participants, on-campus programming, and committee involvement.

SERVICEService is a meaningful pillar of Greek life at Hofstra. Members are provided with opportunities to participate in hands-on volunteer work as well as implement and host philanthropic events to raise money for charitable organizations. These opportunities ensure that fraternity and sorority members will have an impact on their community and develop a lifelong commitment to service.

FRAtERNityANdSORORityliFEFraternities and sororities are values-based organizations that inspire and encourage academic achievement, campus involvement and leadership, the development of strong friendships, and philanthropy and service- learning. Joining a fraternity or sorority at Hofstra exposes students to a large network of collegiate members and alumni that can help them transition successfully to college and assist with internships and job placement after college.

If you are new to Greek life, you probably don’t know what fraternities and sororities are truly about. Sure, you have seen the parties and big events, such as Fall Festival, step shows, and the IFSC Benefit Show. However, that is only one small part of the Greek life experience at Hofstra University.
