“Hofstra University offers cocurricular programs and activities that foster an awareness of local, national and global issues, encouraging students to be active citizens and contributors to their local, national and global communities” — Excerpt from Hofstra University’s Mission Statement

The Office of Student Leadership and Activities (OSLA) provides opportunities for Hofstra University students, faculty and staff to connect with each other while contributing to, participating in and learning more about the community in which we live.

Community service initiatives are coordinated each semester by OSLA to support and challenge our students to become agents of change and develop leadership skills.

Each month, OSLA sponsors one or more outreach programs to provide students with volunteer opportunities. The SERVICEday Series program is one way for Hofstra students to serve their community. To learn more about service opportunities at Hofstra University, please visit hofstra.edu/oslaservice.

HOFSTRA UNIVERSITYServing the community!

Launched in 2006, the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll is the highest federal recognition a school can achieve for its commitment to service learning and civic

engagement. Honorees for this award are selected based on a series of factors, including scope and innovation of service projects, percentage of student participation in service activities, incentives for service, and the extent to which the school offers academic service-learning courses.

The Corporation for National and Community Service honored Hofstra University in 2009 and 2010 with a place on the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for exemplary service efforts to America’s communities. In 2010, Hofstra was also honored with distinction.
