1 Activating Inter-system Handover Cancella-tionPurposeFollow the procedure below to activate the RAN1275: Inter-system Handover Cancella-tion feature.

For more information on the feature, see RAN1275: Inter-system Handover Cancellation in WCDMA RAN, Rel. RU10, Feature Descriptions.

Before you startThis feature is controlled by the ISHOCancellation RNC RNW parameter.

The parameters can be modified with the RNC RNW Object Browser application. For more information on the related parameters, see WCDMA Radio Network Configuration Parameters.

Steps

1 Open the RNC RNW Object Browser GUI.

2 Open the RNC object.

3 Select the RNC/HC interleaf.

4 Set the Inter-System Handover Cancellation (ISHOCancellation) value to Enabled.

5 Set the Maximum Number of ISHO Cancellations Per Active Set for a UE (MaxNumISHOClPerAS parameter) value.

6 Activate the different triggers for the feature with the following FMCG parameters:

• ISHOClcauseCPICHEcNo

• ISHOClcauseCPICHrscp

• ISHOClcauseUETxPwr • ISHOClcauseDLDPCHTxPwr

You can set any trigger/triggers to be either Enabled or Disabled. ISHO cancellation takes place only for the triggers that are Enabled. The only prerequisite is that the ISHOCancellation RNC parameter should be Enabled.

Expected outcomeThe RAN1275: Inter-system Handover Cancellation feature is activated in the RNC.

Verifying Inter-system Handover Cancellation

2 Verifying Inter-system Handover Cancella-tionPurposeFollow the procedure below to verify that the activation of the feature RAN1275: Inter-system Handover Cancellation has been successful.

The verification is done by using the RNW Measurement Management application in the RNC Element Manager.

Steps

1 Open the RNW Measurement Management application.

2 Activate M1010 Inter-System Handover measurement.

3 Wait for the measurement collection to begin.

4 If the ISHO is cancelled, one or more of the following counters are updated, depending on which trigger and for which call type (RT/NRT) the ISHO was can-celled for:

• M1010C203 ISHO CANCEL DUE TO CPICH ECNO FOR RT • M1010C204 ISHO CANCEL DUE TO CPICH RSCP FOR RT • M1010C205 ISHO CANCEL DUE TO UE TX POWER FOR RT • M1010C206 ISHO CANCEL DUE TO DL DPCH POWERFOR RT • M1010C207 ISHO CANCEL DUE TO CELL ADDITION FOR RT • M1010C208 ISHO CANCEL DUE TO CELL REPLACEMENT FOR RT • M1010C209 ISHO CANCEL DUE TO CPICH ECNO FOR NRT • M1010C210 ISHO CANCEL DUE TO CPICH RSCP FOR NRT • M1010C211 ISHO CANCEL DUE TO UE TX POWER FOR NRT • M1010C212 ISHO CANCEL DUE TO DL DPCH POWERFOR NRT • M1010C213 ISHO CANCEL DUE TO CELL ADDITION FOR NRT • M1010C214 ISHO CANCEL DUE TO CELL REPLACEMENT FOR NRT

Example:

a) In case only the RNC ISHOCancellation and FMCG ISHOClcauseCPICHEcNo parameters are enabled, check that one of the following counters, depending on the call type (RT/NRT) are updated: • If the call type is RT, the following counter is updated:

M1010C203 ISHO CANCEL DUE TO CPICH ECNO FOR RT • If the call type is NRT, the following counter is updated:

M1010C209 ISHO CANCEL DUE TO CPICH ECNO FOR NRT

Expected outcomeThe relevant counters have been updated correctly and the Inter-system Handover Can-cellation feature has been activated successfully.

3 Deactivating Inter-system Handover Cancel-lationPurposeFollow the procedure below to deactivate the RAN1275: Inter-system Handover Cancel-lation feature.

Steps

1 Open the RNC RNW Object Browser GUI.

2 Open the RNC object.

3 Select the RNC/HC interleaf.

4 Set the Inter-System Handover Cancellation (ISHOCancellation) value to Dis-abled.

Expected outcomeThe Inter-system Handover Cancellation feature is deactivated when the Inter-System Handover Cancellation value has been set to Disabled.

Further informationNote that if any of the triggers (ISHOClcauseCPICHEcNo, ISHOClcauseCPICHrscp, ISHOClcauseTxPwrUL, ISHOClcauseTxPwrDL) is Disabled, it does not mean that the whole feature is deactivated. It only means that the trigger is deactivated. The ISHO can-cellation is not taking place for that specific trigger.
