Student Survey is the primary method of obtaining
and gauging student feedback at ABChorizon. The
evaluation forms are comprised of both qualitative
and quantitative elements. Also Student and Staff
Liaison Panel meetings, held each semester, to

Attendance Policy
ุณูุงุณุฉ ุงูุญุถูุฑ
The academy recognizes the importance of regular
attendance in all courses.
The program leader is empowered to authorize
absences from classes. Authorized absences shall not
relieve students of the responsibility of making up
work that has been missed.
Instructors shall be notified of all authorized absences
and shall provide opportunity to students to make up
work missed during authorized absences from class
without penalty. If authorized absences total more
than 25% of the course meeting time, it shall be at the
discretion of the instructor whether the student may
make up the missed work or not.
Authorized absences shall not relieve students of the
responsibility of making up work that has been
missed. Students who has less than 60% attendance
of the course meeting time, will not be able to get the
unit Pass and have to redo the unit with the
attendance and work required .

All assessments will be carried out in a fair and honest
manner and in accordance where appropriate, with
awarding or validating body rules and regulations.
ABC Horizon aims to provide students with:
Fair, honest and open assessment which is free from discrimination of any kind.
An initial diagnostic assessment and feedback to identify the appropriate level of study and any learning and support needs.
Recognition and accreditation of previously achieved examination achievement, competence in relevant assessment tasks or relevant experience, providing appropriate evidence is supplied in accordance with the rules of the relevant awarding organisation
A published Unit plan at the beginning of the program identifying a schedule of assessments and methods of assessment, matched to the learning outcomes.
Information about the criteria used for assessment and/or the grading system to be used.
Regular advice, coaching and guidance from subject tutors to support learning from their Tutor or Learning Coach directly

Assessment decisions ุชูููู ุงุนู ุงุง ุงูุทุงูุจ Assessment decisions for Pearson BTEC Higher
Nationals are based on the specific criteria given in
each unit and set at each level of attainment in that
unit and at the qualification level. The criteria for each
unit have been defined according to a framework to
ensure that standards are consistent in the
qualification and across the suite as a whole. The way
in which individual units are written provides a
balance of assessment of understanding, practical
skills and behavioral attributes appropriate to the
purpose of the qualifications. Assessors must show
how they have reached their decisions using the
criteria in the assessment records. When a student
has completed all of the assessment for a unit then
the assessment team will give a grade for the unit.
This is given simply according to the highest level for
which the student is judged to have met all the
criteria. Therefore:
To achieve a Pass, a student must have
satisfied all the Pass criteria for the Learning
Outcomes, showing coverage of the unit
content and therefore attainment at Level 4
or 5 of the national framework. The award of
a Pass is a defined level of performance and
cannot be given solely on the basis of a

Resubmissions ุงูุชููู : ุฅุนุงุฏุฉ A student who, for the first assessment opportunity,
has failed to achieve a Pass for that unit specification
shall be expected to undertake a reassessment.
Only one opportunity for reassessment of the unit will be permitted.
Reassessment for course work, project or portfolio-based assessments shall normally involve the reworking of the original task.
For examinations, reassessment shall involve completion of a new task.
A student who undertakes a reassessment will have their grade capped at a Pass for that unit.
A student will not be entitled to be reassessed in any component of assessment for which a Pass grade or higher has already been awarded.

made by an assessor, s/he has the right of appeal. The
main reasons for an appeal are likely to be:
The learner does not understand why the assessment
decision has been made because of lack of, or unclear,
feedback from the assessor. The learner believes the
assessor has missed, misjudged or misinterpreted
some of the evidence put forward for assessment.
When the learner does not agree with the

- The work is not assessed according to the set
criteria or the criteria are ambiguous.
- The final grade of the work does not match the
criteria set for grade boundaries.
- The internal verification procedure contradicts

- There is evidence of preferential treatment
towards other students/learners.
- The conduct of the assessment did not conform
to the published requirements of BTEC.
- Valid, agreed, circumstances were not taken into
account at the time of assessment, which ABC

internal verifier. All learner appeals will be
acknowledged and investigated to establish
facts and evidence supporting the appeal. If
an appeal is considered justified remedial
action will be taken. The internal verifier
will discuss the appeal with ABC Horizon
Centre who will respond within 20 working
days of receiving the learnerโs appeal.
3) Third Stage learners who have exhausted
1st Stage and 2nd Stage and are still not
satisfied with the decision may proceed to
3rd Stage. This appeal must be in writing to
the Awarding Body (BTEC) and must be
accompanied by copies of all the
documentation used in Stage 1 and Stage 2.
The Awarding Body decision will be final. In
this stage, an email should be sent by the
learner to Pearson within 14 calendar days
of being notified of the outcome of ABC
Horizon Centreโs internal appeals process.
The learner cannot appeal to Pearson
without first going through the appeals
process of ABC Horizon Centre. Pearson will
acknowledge receipt of the enquiry within
three calendar days and respond with the
outcome of the enquiry within 30 days of
receiving the enquiry.
