  • Sustainability Consultant

    XCO2 Energy, a fast-growing sustainability and building services consultancy based in Clerkenwell, London, is

    seeking to appoint a sustainability consultant with a passion for low carbon design and renewable energy

    systems. www.xco2energy.com

    The team works on a range of core disciplines across residential, hospitality, commercial, and public sectors

    carrying out energy and sustainability strategies, daylight assessments, wind modelling, Part L and thermal

    modelling.

    The consultant will have a Masters in environmental design, sustainability or similar. 3 years of work

    experience in the area required. A buildings-related degree with an engineering bias will also be seen as

    beneficial. Day to day responsibilities will include:

    Project management

    Sustainability certification BREEAM, Code for Sustainable Homes, EcoHomes and LEED pre-

    assessments and full assessments.

    Low and zero carbon technologies feasibility studies.

    SAP, SBEM, Part L assessments, involving thermal simulations

    Daylight and Sunlight assessments and Wind Modelling

    Providing sustainable solutions for planning applications

    Writing concise technical and planning reports that identify key findings and make clear

    recommendations to clients backed up with the associated energy, CO2 and cost savings

    The candidate must demonstrate a keen interest in low carbon design and take an active interest in the

    industry. The individual must also fulfil the following criteria:

    Excellent written and oral communication skills and capable of presenting ideas clearly

    Highly motivated, enthusiastic and ambitious

    Experience with dealing with architects and clients, and attending design team meetings

    Demonstrate knowledge of the relevant Industry Standards, British Standards, Building Regulations

    and UK planning process

    Use of the following software will be an integral part of the role and the candidate must be competent in all.

    Dynamical thermal simulation modelling software (preferably IES VE)

    Other Microsoft Office applications, Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint

    It would be beneficial to have experience in other industry-related software packages such as:

    AutoCAD

    SAP, SBEM

    IES PRM module

    Adobe Creative Suite (in particular InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop)

    Ecotect

    RETScreen

    EnergyPlus
