NOTES FROM THE GRAND LINE

From GRM Kris & GRP Wes

HLs and SKs,

What a wonderful month we have enjoyed! SK Wes and I hope you have taken time to enjoy the

beautiful spring weather we have been having. The flowers are in bloom, the grass has turned that

lovely shade of green and love is in the air.

May is our time to honor those who have gone before us and watch over us from above. As you

celebrate the lives of those who have passed this past year during your Memorial Ceremony, may you

find joy in the memories you keep of your time together and help one another in times of sorrow. They

will always remain “Sweet in our Memory.”

We wish everyone a very special Mother’s Day. Mother’s Day is

one of those days that everyone has the opportunity to celebrate: to

give thanks for the gift of life your mother gave you and to honor all

mother’s who have helped you along your journey. When I have used

the phrase, ”it takes a village” I am honoring the many women (and

men) who have been so instrumental in making me the person I am

today by molding me through their love, their teaching moments, and

even the times where there was adversity, for it is through life’s

experiences and even life’s struggles, that we learn and can appreciate more all that we have to be

thankful for. So to each of our Honored Ladies and Sir Knights, Happy Mother’s Day!

Congratulations HL Sue and SK Chuck Arnold of Mirror Court, our final Royal Matron and Royal

Patron to be installed this year. We enjoyed our time together and look forward to traveling to Bend for

your special meeting on June 9th to hold Initiation. Watch the next newsletter for more details as HL

Sue has asked for assistance from Grand Court for their Initiation Ceremony.

Has your Court taken time to meet to talk about your goals for this coming year. It is time to set

your action plan and to move forward on those plans. It is through daily and weekly steps in the

direction of your goals that you will find success. Working together, we can accomplish so much!!!

SK Wes and I enjoyed a week in sunny Phoenix visiting our son and daughter-in-law, while

attending the Grand Court of Arizona. It is always exciting to see our friends from other jurisdictions

and to make new friends. It is also fun to watch how other Grand Courts do things differently. At the

Installation of Grand Officers, just prior to uncrowning, the Royal Matrons of each Court presented the

retiring Grand Royal Matron with a check for Diabetes Research for their Court’s individual efforts

during the past year. It was amazing to see the Royal Matrons lined up, beaming with pride for their

Court’s efforts as they each presented their gifts of love. When all 7 Royals Matrons had presented

their gifts, more than $10,000 had been added to the Grand Court’s total contributions to the Amaranth

Diabetes Foundation! It was a reminder to me that it through the efforts of our individual Court

members and our 12 amazing subordinate Courts that much of our success for raising funds for our

philanthropic projects depends. Thank you in advance for the many special projects you have included

in your planning for the coming year to help us reach our goal to exceed the total contributions from this

past year of over $20,000! Together we can make it happen again!

Also, a reminder that tomorrow, Saturday, May 11, Oregon Job’s Daughters is hosting an Alumni

Tea to kick off their 100-year celebration. Tickets are only $10 if you would like to attend.

I heard an interesting quote a couple of weeks ago that I would like to leave you with; “Reality isn’t

real, it’s what you make it; so make it a great day! May all your travels be safe, your days be filled with

joy and we look forward to seeing many of you along the Amaranth trail.

In Amaranth service and with love, HL Kris & SK Wes

From GAM Patti…

From GAP Dick…

Well, HLs and SKS, the only thing that we seem to have trouble keeping track of this year is gloves. We have a pair of silver, short, fingerless gloves and a single white glove in the found category. We still are missing the pair of short black gloves and now a red glove. Please let me know if you have something extra or have a home for something I have. SK Dick From GC Judy…

I am checking into motels within driving distance for those who don’t camp. This is NOT on Labor Day Weekend as many have objected to tying up that last weekend of the summer. ARAGO FUNDRAISER

https://www.bonfire.com/diabetes/

Spread the word about Arago Court's newest fundraiser that is up and running, which promotes

Amaranth and our work towards supporting Diabetes Research. Amaranth Members while

wearing them will intrigue others, and give an opportunity to a conversation about both our Order

and Diabetes Research.

I have attached a sample color of each of the designs available. There are between 3-5 colors in

each style to choose from and the sizes are available from XS to 3X. The product gets delivered

to the person's chosen address who ordered. Sales are only through Bonfire website and profits

benefit Arago Court Order of Amaranth directly.

These are fun shirts to promote awareness of Diabetes Research and the support that Amaranth

gives to this Philanthropy.

FUN FACTS

Male Dragonflies Will Fight for Territory

Competition for females is fierce, and male dragonflies will aggressively fend off other suitors. In some species, males will claim and defend a territory against intrusion from other males. Skimmers, clubtails, and petaltails scout out prime egg-laying locations around ponds; should a competitor fly into his chosen habitat, the defending male will chase him off. Other kinds of dragonflies don't defend specific territories, but will still behave aggressively to other males that cross their flight paths or dare to approach their perches.

.

OWLS FEED THE STRONGEST BABIES FIRST.

As harsh as it sounds, the parents always feed the oldest and strongest owlet

before its sibling. This means that if food is scarce, the youngest chicks will

starve. After an owlet leaves the nest, it often lives nearby in the same tree, and

its parents still bring it food. If it can survive the first winter on its own, its

chances of survival are good.
