Course Description This course introduces you to western
political thought We’ll examine key concepts like:
Justice Rights Equality Democracy
I. Reading All of the readings
we’ll need for the course are located in the following book:
Jene Porter, ed. History of Political Thought
Grading & Exams Midterm Exams Final Exam Participation
Midterm Exams Take home format 2 or 3 questions, 5 to 7 pages Short “research” paper type approach.
Final Exam In-class affair Date and Time set by the University Same basic format as the midterms, except
you’ll do all the writing in class. Open book
Caveats Keep the chatter to a minimum Coffee, tea, or other beverages are ok. Save the
smelly, noisy, messy, foods for outside class No cells, beepers, pagers, watchmen, walkmen, mp3
players, cd players, gameboys, etc., etc., etc. Late exam policy Respect each other
