First album…

Demi Lovato’s first album Don't Forget featured pop rock and power pop sound. The lyrics dealt with various teen topics.

This means that before specialising in Pop music, Demi Lovato experienced different fields within the media industry.

Demi Lovato then went on to produce her second album Here We Go Again. This album derives mainly from the genres of pop rock and power pop, mixed with influences of R&B and synthpop. Here it is clear that Demi Lovato wanted the album's music to be less rock and more mellow than her previous album, whilst allowing herself to explore a more mature set of sounds and lyrics. Also, in comparison to her

previous CD cover, it is clear that Demi Lovato is beginning to target a more feminine audience rather than her previous album Don’t Forget whereby she is featured in a powerful position. This CD has levels of femininity which allows as clear audience to be established. From here it becomes clear that Demi Lovato was moving towards a different audience of females.

From this…After the success of her previous album ‘Here we go

again’, Demi Lovato began targeting more and more of a Pop genre. All of her songs shown to the left feature Demi Lovat in strong emotive settings whereby she is shown through the means of a narrative music video. These music videos relate strongly to the lyrics featuring feelings of love and heartbreak. This relates strongly to Pop conventions as the audience connects to the artist on a personal level because they understand the emotions and feelings being shown.

From this, it becomes clear that as an artist Demi Lovato had changed alongside her target audience. This is because as an artist she developed her music based around a connection with the audience. This is clearly shown through the CD covers which have changed over time. Today, Demi Lovato primarily targets the Pop genre and focuses her music videos around this concept.
