White was pastor at Mount Whitaker Baptist Church, Blacksburg, S.C. from August 1965 until April 1977. He and his wife Shirley, have three children: Mrs. Anne Howell, Lynn and Timothy. Rev. White presently serves as Baptist Hospital Representative for the Blue Ridge Association, and also a member of the Con- stitutional Change Committee. CALV ARY BAPTIST CHURCH REV. G.A. PROPST First Pastor Calvary Baptist Church was organized November 20, 1949, as a result of a group of people leaving Hicks Chapel Baptist Church on August 21, 1949. Services were held in the home of Dexter Wood, then moved into a tent on 221 North. They moved services to a store building owned by George Smith, from whom land was purchased and the church was built. They are now in the process of remodeling and enlarging the building. The pre- sent membership is 52. The present pastor, Sam Pless. graduated Bethel High School in Canton, N.C. He attend­ ed Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute. He is married to Jane Cathey. They reside on Resevoir Road in Marion, N.C. Rev. Pless has pastored in the following churches: Mt. Pleasant, Sugar Hill, Catawba Heights, and Macedonia in McDowell County; Lake James in Burke County; Welcome Hill, Canton, N.C.

Faith Missionary Baptist Church was organized June 18, 1950. Faith was first started in an old building owned by R.V. Snipes at Nebo and later moved to a house owned by Glen Pyatt. They later moved to a dwelling owned by a Mr. Moore near the present location. They moved into the pre­ sent building June, 1954. Faith joined the Blue Ridge Baptist Association in October, 1952. They now have a membership of 74. Charter members are Mrs. C.S. Wells; Jean, Joan, Betty Sue, Alma and Donald Wells; Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Willis; Mr. & Mrs. Roy Morgan; Mrs. Hessie Turpin; Dean Fincher; Howard, Charles and Gladys Morgan; Rev. & Mrs. John P. Crouch; Mrs. Carrie Boone; Mrs. Raye Boone; Mrs. Lula Curry; Miss Doris Curry; Mr. & Mrs. Glen Pyatt. preach from Faith November 25, 1956.
