As History of Architecture is the Core Course,
so in the framework for Bachelor in Architecture, the Course title should be changed as “History of Art and Architecture” because the literature is very concerned with the history of art including history of architecture.
THE INTRODUCTION
The Objectives of the Course would be at their Formative Level to set their attentiveness,
To promote awareness of the socio-cultured politic-economic and technological context of architecture, past and contemporary, so as to create architecture that is relevant to its place and time.
THE OBJECTIVE
There is a need to create awareness about the importance of heritage conservations.
VISIT: Visits to the historical building of Karachi and
Thatta (Interior Sindh) would be arranged.
To fulfill the course objective a “DRAMA” would be assigned to play with the theme of past socio-cultured context of architecture.
RECOMMENDATIONS AND SELF INITIATIVES WILL BE TAKEN
WORKSHOP:
The concerned activities with the collaboration of “The History Club and Heritage Cell, DAP-NED” workshops will be organized.
Renaissance and Baroque Architecture in Europe and parallel developments in painting and sculpture. The Industrial Revolution of Europe, its social and economic consequences. How the change in the mode of production presented a new concept of Art and Architecture.
THE COURSE OUTLINES TO BE TAUGHT IN THE SESSION 2013
Architectural and Artistic development throughout the 19th & 20th Centuries in the western world. The Arts and Craft movements (Expipressionism, Tuturism, Cubism, Purism, Brutalism and others).
A study of the works and philosophies of the pioneers of modern architecture such as Groupies, Mies Vander Rohe, Frank Lloyd Wright and Le Corbusier.
The above described planned strategies will be implemented during the teaching and the input of the efforts would be resulted positively.
