HISTORY FLORENCE CAQUETÁ

Florence is a Colombian city, capital of Caquetá. It is known as "The Golden Gate of the Colombian Amazon." It is the most important of southeastern Colombia for its population, more than one hundred years of history and the conspicuous visibility in recent years has given the city Colombian conflict.

Florence was founded on December 25, 1902 by the Capuchin friar, Father Doroteo of Pupiales (1876-1959) born in the town of Pupiales, Nariño, also known as Jose Ruben Vallejo Belalcázar before being ordained. Its main square, recently remodeled, is distinguished by a huge mango tree that gives shade and protection from the harsh tropical sun all day.

It is a young city in the foothills of the Cordillera Oriental and the Colombian Amazon. It bordered on the north by the department of Huila and the municipality of El Paujil, on the east by the municipalities of the Curassow and La Montañita to the south with the municipalities of Milan and Morelia, and to the west with the municipality of Bethlehem Andaquíes and Huila.
