HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
ZMM “STOMANA” AD is a company with extensive experience and lasting
traditions in the machine building branch of the industry. Found in Silistra in 1945, it
is one of the biggest manufacturers of metal and woodworking processing machines
and equipment for the founding industry in Europe.
In view of the demand for furthering the
efficiency of the business management in a rapidly
changing and very competitive environment, the
company has reoriented its production activity
towards the development and production of wood-
processing machines.
A major feature of the enterprise is its ability to
effectively realize short term and high-quality
design and manufacture projects all due to the professionalism and potential of the
personnel as well as the good production and technological facilities.
During the last several years ZMM
“STOMANA” AD has been able to develop a
wide range of wood processing machines like the
series of single and multi-operational machines,
planers, thickness planers, drillers, circular saws,
milling machines, belt saws, lathes and belt-
grinders, edge banding machines, air aspirators
etc.

opens a road to the markets of the World.

gradually acquires a wider popularity in Bulgaria and on a number of foreign markets.

integrated a production line for powder painting.

STRUCTURE
NikMann design is based on a CAD product for
solid modelling which allows to determine the
possible structural distortions caused by static
and dynamic loads and to dimension the most
critical components, high lightening the most
stressed areas which need strengthening.
Machine frame
The machine frame is made of thick electro
welded steel with a closed ring structure, properly strengthened in the most stressed
areas.
Upright beam
The upright beam, mobile in the longitudinal
direction is made of electro welded steel with
gantry structure: thick steel sheets and
reinforcing transversal elements grants a higher
rigidity and allow to obtain the maximum
accuracy.
Transversal and vertical carriages
The transversal carriage and the vertical carriage are
made of electro welded steel which is stabilized and
then machined in a single setup for maximum precision.
Drives and motor systems
NikMann uses Brushless motors, controlled by digital
axes drives. The digital system allows the following:
Higher working precision, thanks to a faster data
processing;
Higher reliability, thanks to a reduced wiring system
which eliminates electrical interferences that may
occur on analogue systems;
Reduced machine stops and downtime, thanks to the errors diagnostic with
explanatory messages displayed directly on the N.C. touch screen.
Linear guides
All axes move on tempered and rectified
steel linear guides by preloaded recirculating
balls bearings.
Each balls bearing is equipped with 4 sliding
gaskets of which 2 internal and 2 externals,
to protect the bearing from chips and dust
intrusion.
Control System The Unitronics are full-function
programmable controllers (PLCs) with
onboard I/Os and a built-in textual HMI
panel, specifically designed to control small
machines and simple-to-medium automation
tasks. Compact, economical–low-budget
control without compromising on features.
DESCRIPTION OF OPERATING GROUPS SPRAY MIST BEFORE PRE-MILLING UNIT /optional/ The machine is equipped with a spray mist unit to
prevents the adhesion of emerging glue onto the
workpiece.
INFRA-RED PANEL EDGE HEATING To heat the panels before the glue application.
It improves the gluing quality in case of low
environmental temperatures. Electronic timed
activation through the line control
PRE-MILLING UNIT It is positioned before the gluing unit to trim the panel
edge and therefore obtain a perfect uniform surface. It
is equipped with 2 high frequency motors. The motor
operation is timed to prevent chipping on the panel, and
the height adjustment to allow the correct tool
positioning on the panel.
The unit carries out the milling of the panel edge with a
variable removal by adjusting the infeed fence
position. The infeed fence is fitted with a digital servo
motor system which automatically sets the fence
position according to the program selected on the controller.
The unit is complete with 2 diamond tools.
The pre-milling unit also includes an air jet cleaning system after the pre-milling unit
to clean the panels edge prior to glue application. This prevents any loose swarf from
being lifted off the panels edge & being transferred into the glue pot.

ILLUMINATION OF SAFETY ENCLOSURE AND GLUING ZONE
The machine safety enclosure is lined with soundproof
material to reduce the noise level and is fitted with
lamps in the cabinet to ensure the area is illuminated
for maintenance purposes.
Internal lighting can be switched ON or OFF from the
touchscreen.

Powered, fractioned first pressure roller with large
dimensions and timed intervention. The second & third
idle rollers which are tilted, one at the top and one at
the bottom with timed intervention to ensure maximum
pressure on the top and bottom edge.
QUICK CHANGE GLUE POT COMPLETE The machine is equipped with a complete glue pot
interchangeable with the glue pot supplied on the
machine. It allows the quick change of glue colour or for
glue pot maintenance.
END CUTTING UNIT Two high frequency independent motors to cut the front
and rear edges.
High precision and heavy-duty end cutting unit with the
movement of the two motors on prismatic guide ways
with preloaded recirculating ball bearings.
Each operating motor is equipped with copying device
for an accurate positioning of blades in relation to the
cutting point. The saws can also be tilted to 15 degrees if a bevel trim is required.
